The FG they passed up and going for two = 4 points. They lost by 3. Never never never pass up points, which includes not going for 2 early on.

Coaching matters. Tons upon tons.

Yes they did. And if Analytics tells you to do those things, someone has fouled up the model.

There were some strange decisions all thru the weekends playoff games. I have no problem if a coach goes against the grain of "what you should do" because he has a strong feeling (good or bad) about his team at the moment but some situations have an almost certain right answer. Don't understand when they foul that up.

Never? So you would never go for it on 4th down in FG range? Seriously?

The 4th-and-4 was a big mistake. One of the reasons analytics says to go for it on 4th deep in the opponent's territory is that, even if you fail, you've pinned them back deep and you're the team more likely to score next. But that's not the case with less than 2 minutes left in the half: you're very unlikely to take advantage of that field position in the limited time remaining. That's why it was wrong, but you shouldn't extrapolate that situation to all cases.
