Quinn did have some success elsewhere. His Atlanta team was 11-5 and went to the Super Bowl his second season. It was 10-6 the next year, when the defense was eighth in points allowed, holding five opponents to fewer than 20 points during the regular season and both of its opponents in the playoffs to 15 or fewer (26-13 over the Rams and 15-10 loss to the Eagles).

Imagine if we had a defense that held any opponent to even 17 points or fewer in the playoffs during some of the years when our offense was actually good. Even in the 2016 playoffs, when his defense wasn't as good and gave up the big Super Bowl comeback to New England, it held its two NFC playoff opponents to 20 and 21.

Now, the last three years haven't been good defensively, so there is some concern there.

Good points. If he can hold teams to 20, the Cowboys are a playoff team.

Well if anything I hope Quinn toughing up our defense.

Nothing I hate more than seeing our defenders helping up the other teams RB's, QB's and WR's.
You can be friends and nice but between the lines and while the game is going on the opposite color jersey is your worst enemy.

Toughen this week ballerina defense up.

I love all the “ he had the best players in Seattle” AND he blew a half time lead in Atlanta in a SB. How do we know he didn’t help build in the draft for Seattle and then coached them up? In Atlanta he was the HC, not DC. Just like Wade is a better DC than HC. People love to complain. I think this is a good score
He called plays at times in Atl. He wasn’t just sitting in the owners suite watching.

I have mixed thoughts about this hiring:

-Dan Quinn is well respected, high energy, has a DL background. He is reportedly a good teacher and is well liked by his players.
-When he has had good talent, his defenses have performed well, see Seattle
-Disappointed we are going back to a simplistic scheme. However, transition should be easy and young players can make a quicker impact
-Quinn has done a poor job in building defensive personnel while with the Falcons. Allow the scouts to find him players, he will be fine.
I read a report earlier stating that the defense will be multiple aggressive attacking scheme. It depends on the type of players we bring in. If we go linebacker in the draft like Collins we will be multiple. If we draft Parsons we will be a basic 4/3. If we go Farley it will probably be a more aggressive scheme because of his man to man skills at cornerback. Surtain we will probably be more like Quinn’s days with Seahawks. I don’t think Jaylon can be in a complicated defense because of his limitations. If he comes back that might be the first tell about we’re we are going.

What’s a joke is you judging a coordinator hire based on his record as a HC. Go back and check how he did in Seattle and get back to me.

checked. And that was many moons ago. He will be like how he was recently, aka his Atlanta defense and his (in)ability to go into prevent as soon as his team scores a TD. In addition to that, why is it that as soon as he left Legion of Boom for Atlanta, his defensive rankings dropped? Cause he SUCKS. It’s likely he wasn’t the one responsible for greatness that was legion of boom.
And what else are we to base him off of?? Example, JG. He was supposedly “a great coordinator” turned even worse HC, and now that he’s coordinator again, he STINKS!! Same goes to Quinn. We know how this stuff plays out, especially for Dallas. It’s just a matter of rather you get fooled by it, and it appears you are, sadly. This time next year, you’ll agree with every post I and others like me have said. It’s only a matter of time.

A buddy of mine said to me that maybe Jerry wants to see what a SB championship ring looks like in this century as to why he is hiring MM and Quinn.
You know he would be staring at the them with envy. Jerry and MM probably wore each others rings at their sleep over.

Some coaches do better as coordinators.....Jack Del Rio did an awesome job with Washington of course they have the best front 4 in football but their secondary and lbs arent the best but they played solid

hopefully Quinn can get this defense to a respectable level

Yesterday you ******s were whining about hiring a coach that has worked with McCarthy before. Now you’re whining about the Cowboys hiring a coach who has never coached under McCarthy and has been to 3 Super Bowls.

the two aren’t mutually exclusive. They could’ve found a young, fresh DC/linemen coach from some team that was worth interviewing. Doesn’t have to be McCarthy’s friend and it doesn’t have to be some lame duck coach that got fired for their ineptitude, however, it appears in Jerry’s eyes that those are the only two criteria to become a coach on this team so . I’m not going to argue with you. I’m sure this time last year you were optimistic of Nolan, and look where that led us. It’ll be another groundhogs day for you and me and everyone else whom it concerns. But hey. You do you.

Half of you please shield your eyes for a moment.

So either Fat Mike has no conviction in his beliefs and has done a 180 on what he told us he wanted on defense last year.

Or that lunatic owner has a new puppet.

I'll let you decide.

Ok, you can all look now.

I love this move.
MM is a puppet. We both know there is no SB run anytime soon.

Maybe if this same horrendous division is just as bad next year. We scored more ppg on offense last year and held teams to 20 points yet didn’t sniff the playoffs.

It wouldn’t matter. You and the other negative Nancy’s were going to whine about whomever. I mean that’s all y’all do so why would this be any different. I called it several days ago.

That assumes the O scores like it did in them shootouts. I thought the Rams game should show you that isn't how scoring works with this team. Most of the times the O put up big numbers it was because they were down. They rarely blew teams out scoring a ton of points even if the D had a good game holding the opposing team down. Sometimes I wonder how y'all come to y'all's conclusions on things.
