Get to work on the draft and make sure you come out of there with a corner , DT1 and a safety for God's sake for Quinn to work with.................

i would lose my mind if we could get a DT that could stop the run like Ted Washington, Vince Wilfork and Gilbert Brown

were kinda no so good against the run

Those ATL defenses were bad so bad that he had to give up playcalling. LOB made three careers, his, Bradley’s, and Richards. At this point we gotta give LOB more credit than the coaches.

-------It wouldn’t matter. You and the other negative Nancy’s were going to whine about whomever

Not if Jerrah would have done the no brainer thing, and signed either Meyer or Riley.

I absolutely want the mind behind the brilliant Atlanta Falcons defenses to be the one to fix the disaster that is the Dallas Cowboys defense. Truly that is a thing that cannot go wrong.

we cant get any worse than we were last year....I never thought i would cry watching the Cowboys it took almost 30 years but that defense made me actually cry from how bad it was

I was reading and following you until you refer to JG as the worst coach this franchise has seen. Your 1 of those fans who must have forgotten the years after Barry with Campo amd such lmao. Theres no point in continuing this convo my good friend, as your mind is already made up lol good day!

I think you are one of those fans who does not understand that Campo had trash at QB and a no talent team whereas Garrett wrecked the career of a top 5 QB (Romo)

so please spare me

I know everyone is point to Quinn’s failed tenure in Atlanta. And by all means...... it ended badly the last 3 seasons.

But Quinn also had a more successful head coaching tenure with Atlanta, than anyone the cowboys have had since the 90’s. Period.

Let’s give him a chance as the DC. He’s been to 3 Super Bowls in the past 6 years as a DC or HC for crying out loud.

Maybe if this same horrendous division is just as bad next year. We scored more ppg on offense last year and held teams to 20 points yet didn’t sniff the playoffs.

Can't blame that part on the defense. We lost three of those games where we allowed 17 or fewer. It seemed like every time the defense was good, the offense was bad. Overall, we finished 11th in the league with an average of 20.1 per game allowed.

He did a good job at Florida too. Either way he’s an upgrade over Nolan and the players are way more familiar with this scheme. Not saying we are gonna ball out . But like I said the players know the scheme. Being a head coach and a coordinator definitely has a impact also. And whatever you wanna say he was part of the success in Seattle just as he was at Florida , his 2nd year there the gators gave up only 188 points throughout the season. So many coordinators fail as head coaches and go right back to being a coordinator and have plenty of success. Now to the eagles wth are y’all even doing ?

Really hard to know how much he was involved in building it. He was in Seattle from 2009-2010 but some key members of that defense came after he was gone - Sherman, Thomas, Wagner, Irvin............. that's not to say he can't be a good DC here or that he wasn't a good DC in Seattle, but we might be stretching a bit claiming he built those Seattle Ds.

Agree! My whole point is that there are no candidates out there where you can’t find scars...too young, had talent, etc. I am just not sure what a decision that was universally lauded would look like :)

Only in the sense that they're both 4-3 defenses.

Marinelli liked cover two and a 4-3 over front with the Sam on the strong side.

Quinn used to 43 under with the Sam on the weak side and more as an extra Blitzer. He would play with multiple linemen over the offensive lineman particularly the weak side defense end played straight up over the tackle. He also used 3-4 and 2-4 looks like we saw from Nolan.

Quinn also actively disguised coverages starting out from cover two looks and then dropping a safety into the box and vice versa.

Further Quinn likes larger defensive lineman. His nose or one technique was always 310 lb or more and as I said before the defensive ends were larger able to use two Gap and one Gap techniques.

i found a really good write up on his defense and put it in one of the million posts of replied to today.

his Left de (4t) is basically a quicker bigger dt to 2 gap that side. then you have a 1 tech nt 315+ doing 2 gap to both a gaps. the 3t is one gaping between guard and tackle and your leo is coming off the edge full time.

lbs your strong is another rusher. will is a run and chase. and your mike is cover 2 drop and cover.

secondary like someone else posted starts looking like cover 2 but the drop and rotate all over the place. there cbs are in bump and trail tech

Ever notice how awesome coaches are when the players are great?

Millard Huggins with Ruth and Gehrig.
Red Auerbach with Russell, Cousy and Havlichek
Landry with Lilly, Jordan, Renfro, White, Martin, Harris, Waters, Dorsett, Pearson, etc.
and others

You can pick apart just about anybody. I think this will prove to be a great hire. Things are looking up for 2021. Let’s see how free agency and the draft go, but Quinn is a huge upgrade over Nolan. I don’t think most would argue with that.
