Wade Phillips has a long history of success. Quinn was a DC for two years with a ton of talent, in a system ran by a defensive guru in Pete Carroll. He became the HC of ATL. He doesn't have a big sample size of success.

Wasnt comparing years of DC but more so
HCs that were better DC than HCs...

Makes sense. Occasionally, Jerry will fall in love his "young Landry" like Garrett or Moore, but most of the time, he wants his coaches to have some skins on the wall. Also a 4-3, which I am in favor of, and I think Jerry is in favor of.

Fits our current defensive personnel, such as we have them. Lawrence and Gregory are our best defenders, by far. The only good players on defense right now. Diggs is getting there. Maybe next year.

Wouldn't even Nolan have been a good DC with the roster Seattle assembled on Defense when Quinn was there? I mean prime Wagner, Irvin, Wright, Bennett, Avril, Sherman, Chancellor, Thomas, etc. We don't have anyone that's anywhere near the talent of any of those, other than maybe Tank -> Irvin

Richard???? Hahahaha over Quinn? Tf are you smoking?

Lmao at wanting some loser who is known for blowing HUGE leads. I mean he turned Atlanta into a meme at how bad they are. He can't adjust. He is predictable. Oh but hey, he was good 7 years ago with some of the best young talent assembled. Yay!! Another failed retread. Can't wait.

Let's go hire Barry Switzer next. You know, he won a Super Bowl! He's good!

So is this guy any good? Is it one of those "great coordinator but not a good HC" situation? I know he took the Falcons to the SB but more recently he was the HC of a team that could never hold a lead and seemed like the defense gave up a lot of points

yes. Very good.

Near elite.

No matter who they choose, there will always be WAY too many “mortified”, “incredulous”, “freaked out” people. NEVER happy!

Let’s relax, take a breath, let it unfold, and be happy and hopeful!

unfold into madness, darkness, and another year without a championship.

but you’re right. LETS GOOOOOO :flagwave:. 4-12 HERE WE COME!!

What was quinns successful past before he went to seattle? How do you become successful without the OPPORTUNITY

I understand that but I think the way this team is built contractually, keeping the pieces together on offense will be challenging and I don’t believe we have time to give a guy who’s never done it time to learn. Just my opinion. But what unproven guy did you have in mind?

Any position coach on a good defense that blitzes frequently and get guys to play for them.

I am sick of seeing wide open receivers and runners not getting hit until they are 6 yards or more downfield. I have a feeling a lot of this is due to coaching. If Quinn takes us to a middle of the road defense next year, he will have done an impressive job. I hope he is able to get the best out of some of our current supposed talent and does a good job identifying and fixing our biggest needs.

His unit was tops in least points yards allowed
and most takeaways in Seattle as a DC
So how is that not "proven "
His unit dominated high scoring peyton manning in super bowl so how is that not proven?
And when you're talking about recent, you're referring to him as head coach of ATL
Whereas hes not being hired here as an HC but as a DC
That's like wade Phillips gus Bradley etc.
These guys fit coordinator roles than they do as HCs.
Being tops in the league several years ago says nothing about ability to coach a modern day defense.

I’m not a huge fan of the hire, but it’s definitely a lot better than Richard. Why bring that bum back? He did a TERRIBLE job with the secondary while he was here. I’m good lol.

Why is he better? They’re cut from the same cloth and neither have done anything without 4 all pros in their prime

If I have to pick between 2 bums, I’m obviously going with the one who has a bigger resume. Literally zero point in bringing back Richard after what he did last time he was here. He’s accomplished even less than Quinn.
