Do Cowboys have personnel to run Quinn's defense?

Ted Nguyen, NFL film analyst: The Cowboys defenders reportedly complained that Nolan's defense was too complicated, but it feels like the pendulum swung too far in the other direction with the Quinn hire. He runs the old Seattle Cover-3 scheme. Simple, but you have to have blue chip players at every level to make it work. Quinn hasn't coordinated a good defense since the Legion of Boom.

What are you talking about ? we have Lawrence , Jaylon and Wilson. That’s better than what Seattle had! You have have to have on all pro at every level on defense

After some thought, Dan Quinn might actually be a good addition. Why you may ask?

  • He blows leads
  • We can never get leads and don’t start scoring til the 2nd half.

It all balances out. His bad mojo will balance out our bad mojo. So we either won’t score at all, or we will score all 4 Q.

I’m sure all that was covered during the sleepover at Jerry’s.

I thought you had gotten your bi-polar meds refilled for a second there until I read your bullet points.

We don’t have the quality defenders to play *any* scheme effectively so the comment is really pretty misleading.

What makes the Quinn hire have a chance to work is that most of our defense played a similar scheme two years ago and at least have some familiarity with it

We can just try to pretend 2020 never happened.

That doesn’t mean they’ll be a top ten defense, by any stretch, because we still don’t have the players on that side of the ball but we should be better than we were this year when we not only had players not suited the the scheme, but they were also bad players in general.

What if you take Paye ?

Lawrence
Paye
Gregory

Diggs
Sherman
Molton

just looks more evened out to me that way.
Interior pressure would still be poor.
EDIT; I just saw your hypothetical has us signing Tomlinson.
He's a pretty good pocket pusher for a NT and would help.
