It's going to take next off-season also to be in a position to shed some salary so they can sign some defensive help (by which time the OL will be a pure mess if ignored).

Can't make huge mistakes on contracts and not feel it.

You do understand how the cap works right? Jerry has nothing to do with it. He'd spend all the $ in the world to get all the top players in Dallas. The cap forbids rich teams like Dallas from doing this.
Jerry can sign Dak and 2 other good free agents if he wants. Hes full of shi....... They choose to be cheap.

We arent cutting Jaylon.
I feel the Cowboys have been asking Jaylon to do things he's just not good at. He needs to stay focused on moving forward, rushing the QB. He just hasn't been good in coverage

Thats what good coaching is. Putting players in the best position to succeed. Something we suck at

Richard Sherman...

I think he's washed, but if ever there was a Quinn guy, that'd be it. I wouldn't mind him as veteran depth.
Yeah, that's who I was implying.

Honestly, this defense needs all the help it can get. We always nitpick free agents as washed or too expensive, but we don't have that luxury anymore. This team needs help at DT, LB, CB and S. So I'm totally on board with Sherman

I don't really agree at CB. If they re-sign Chido, Sherman's their #4.

Don't be surprised if we try to bring back Maliek Collins. I believe he is a FA this offseason. He's the type of signing we normally go for. Under the radar, cheap...

Yep, seems about right. That list the OP put up there is way too high on the talent list for our type FA. In other words they have way too much tread while we need to hire worn out retreads. Just like our coaching talent.

Sherman was done a year ago. No thanks.

They're about to sign Dak.

They don't have a nickel for a soft drink in free agency.

Yup. Which is why going back to a Seattle Cover 2 style D— while not sexy— makes the most sense considering the current talent on the roster and their inability to learn a new scheme.

Gonna be slim pickens in free agency again, but we may be able to add some fresh talent in the draft. Regardless, we are in complete rebuild mode on D. We maybe have a handful of legit starting caliber players on that side of the ball.

Quinn will need to maximize every ounce of talent at his disposal and hit several homeruns in the draft in order to raise our performance to a top 50% D in terms of efficiency

I like the list, but I don't know if we'll have enough $ to sign any of them.

If they sign Dak for anything close to what he wants, it's doubtful any of them might be affordable.

It will be smaller then the tag, yes. Especially next year.

So IF dak signs long term I’m hoping they go after a productive splash type d line signing. Don’t have names I can name though. They more than likely won’t but I can dream.

I am all-in on a Maye or another big-time FS.
The FS is incredibly important in Quinn's system and there is a real lack of high-quality Ss in the draft.
I think we can go with stop-gap vets at NT, CB, and LB because the draft has those. Some real good big-bodied DTs that we can get in rounds 2-4, A lot of nice corners, not sure if any are lockdown, but they are solid. Same with LB, but right now, I see one maybe two safeties in the whole draft that could potentially start in year 1.
And yes, if we want, we absolutely can sign one big-time FA and several stop-gap types, especially if the salary cap is at 195 as opposed to 175.
