Somehow you have become the decision maker for the Cowboys. Jerry steps aside and Stephen is a titular head only.

You make the decisions. But you are limited to hiring a GM and head coach only. You cannot operate like Jerry and meddle.

So who will be your GM?

Do you pick one from another franchise? Someone like Brett Veach of the Chiefs?
Do you hire a head coach to be the GM. Like Bill Belichick. If so, what would you give the Pats to hire him?
Do you pick a former player? Troy Aikman perhaps?
Or would you elevate Will McCoy?

Now you are tasked to hire a head coach. This will wrap up your job, and you can sit in the VIP box and watch your team become meat eaters.

Do you chase a coach from college? Lincoln Riley, perhaps? Or maybe Nick Saban?
Do you chose from current NFL coaches? Again Belichick? Or perhaps Sean McVay?
Do you chose from the list of DC's or OC's in the league? Todd Bowles? Eric Bieniemy?
How about a former Cowboy player? Tony Romo? Ken Norton Jr?

Seems like a great deal, but it is merely naming a GM and head coach and then it's Miller Time.

What say you?

If it were me, and I could do anything I wanted. I would lure Andy Reid away from KC as the head coach and add Bill Belichick as the GM.

Then prepare to write checks.

I'd interview Will McClay along with a many other potential GM candidates that I don't have a list in front of me. And then i'd let them hire their HC.

I’d pursue a Dream Team in front office and coaching staff barring no expense since there’s no cap on coaching or FO.

We already know Aikman is interested. Let’s entertain if he’d like to be VP. We pursued Dan Reeves a few years ago for a Consultant role but couldn’t come to an agreement.

I’d form a group possibly similar to the what Texans have done with Jimmy and others to provide some coaching recommendations.

Id bring in as many loyal known football guys to help influence these decisions. Then once they come to a decision , pursue them.

Why spare any expense . We generated over 900 million in revenue last year. Offer a HC 25, 30 million a year. See who it attracts. We might be surprised especially if Jethro is out of the picture.

Been saying the same for years, but you know as well as I do why none of this would ever happen.
Jerry will never be out of the picture as long as he is the main man that cuts the checks.
Thats the bottom line fans, Jerry isnt cutting the checks unless he gets all the credit, as fans, we need to understand this, accept this, and just hope for the best.
This is Jerrys favorite toy, and he is not ever taking a back seat and being made a fool for waiting so long to hire a true brain trust that actually succeeds.

When Andy Reid was fired from Philadelphia I was campaigning for him on this forum.

Start over by renaming your post 'The Fantasy Game' --because that what it is when you list the likes of Belichick and Saban among the candidates.
At their advanced ages (Nick is 69 and Bill will be in three months), those two ain't taken on this project for an 8-figure salary only.
In addition to that check, you better get Jones & Jones to grant 5% ownership of the franchise upon signing...and when the one you hire gets the Cowboys their 6th NFL title, the deal doubles to 10%.

All the teams winning SBs follow the same general formula:
1. The owner hires a GM, establishes goals and accountability expectations with a timeline for accomplishing them, then delegates authority to that person to hire the HC.
2. GM hires HC and other key FO positions as needed.
3. The HC hires his own coaching staff.
4. The GM and HC have an allotted amount of time to accomplish goals set be the owner. Usually within 4-5 years max.

The above is not a mystery or atomic science. It’s simple organizational health with accountability. It’s how organizations win championships.

With that philosophy I would hire an outstanding football mind with some experience and success as my GM. Then I would sit back and let them do their job. I would be a Clint Murchison style owner. Hire good people, set goals, support them by giving them resources, then let them do their job. Hold them accountable for results.

Who would I hire? I would have to study it a lot more. But the process above is what wins with the right people in place. It’s no accident this team hasn’t even won a divisional playoff game in a qtr of a century because there is zero accountability at the top of this organization for failure. It’s exactly what’s killing this culture year after year.

Non exclusive Tag on Dak. Trade him for 2 firsts.

Trade Zeke for a 6th
Trade Cooper for a 4th
Trade Jaylon for a conditional 6th
Trade Tyron for a 3rd

Trade everything for Lawrence

I think your Andy Reid at HC and hoodie as GM would be my fantasy vote as well. Nice post.

I'm continually amazed by people who are convinced Dak isn't good enough yet think some other team would give up 2 first round picks for him. :muttley:

What if the Cowboys pay Dak what he is asking for and he wins the Cowboys a Super Bowl? Will the Dak haters finally shut up? Hell no because they are hot air gasbags that don't know how to shut up. These people should just be ignored by every member of CZ.
