Why would you hire either one of them? I would hire a young up and coming guy or I would hire Josh McDaniels.
Don't limit yourselves to old has beens
Josh McDaniels...who in his first HC job in Denver brought an arrogant (=Patriots) attitude that resulted in him getting canned 3\4ths into his 2nd season (2010).
Then...after one year with the St. Louis Rams, McDaniels winds up back with the Patriots.
Half a dozen years later, McDaniels applies for and get the Colts HC position....but on the same day changes his mind about it and slinks back to New England.
This the guy you have on your list as a viable candidate?

I sign Pederson over Garrett in a heartbeat. Or I sign neither. Who knows maybe JG would be great over there. Its not really fair to watch us lose a decade and then expect Cowboy fans to be objective. Ive always said JG wasn't a bad coach. He had his terrible moments, but he also had strengths. The problem was he wasn't a good enough coach to get us over the top. Maybe somewhere else he can succeed, but I can't bet on him. Im not capable of forgetting his failures in Dallas. Pederson at least has a championship on his resume.

It would have been great if Jerry took this advice instead of hiring a staff full of retreads.

Isn’t McDaniels a has been? Or never was?
I would rather have him then Garrett or Pederson.
Garrett was Jerry's hand picked guy and really never succeeded. Had all the resources

I am not excusing what McDaniels did to the Colts, obviously the Colts got a good coach in Reich which leads to me the real brains in Philly ( it wasn't Pederson)
A lot of coaches do better in their second shot vs the first.

How can any Cowboy fan, who paid attention, during Garrett’s tenure here think Garrett would be a good signing as a HC.

Garrett lost 2-3 games every year In the stupidest most ridiculous ways. Then when he was interviewed after the ridiculous lose, he would NEVER admit his mistakes/mistake. He would always rationalize his mistakes!

Talented young QB, solid team looking to take the next step.

He’s not that young he’s in his mid 50s and he only had 4 winning seasons in his 10 seasons with the Cowboys. He’s a great choice if you’re looking to go 8-8 or worse. I wouldn’t even bother to interview that red robot.

I'd rather have none of them......I think McDaniels would be the last guy I'd want...Patriots guys seem to stink outside of Bellicheat.....

Garrett has a better track record grooming young QBs. Once Frank Riche left Philly, QBs regressed badly.

So you would take McDaniels because "a lot of coaches do better in their second shot", but would not take Garret or Pederson when it would be the second shot for either of them as well?

Not sure I would want any of them, but your reasoning is somewhat stretching logic.

Why would you hire either one of them? I would hire a young up and coming guy or I would hire Josh McDaniels.

Again, McDaniels is just as much of a has been as the two you question hiring from a perspective of how many times they have been a head coach (and with the same, if not poorer, results).

Let's see here, one has a super bowl on his resume and the other is a 8-8 coach at best. This would only be a tough decision for Jerry.

wow, Garrett sure is feeling the hate on this thread. Garrett had one losing season in 9 full years as head coach, and MM just matched him after one season. I'm certainly willing to give McCarthy another shot, but no one here knows what Garrett would look like without ownership/ managing general partner or whatever JJ wants to call himself breathing down his neck and meddling all the time. I mean, we've gone through Chan Gailey, Dave Campo, Bill Parcells, Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, and now we're giving McCarthy his time in the sun. All of these coaches have had problems according to the fans, but the one consistent thing between all of them has been JJ. I love JJ's passion for the team, but if he REALLY wants to win, he's going to have to learn how to let other folks drive the bus.

I like to look at it like this: The Patriots have been an unheard of dynasty IN SPITE OF the salary cap for 20 years. The Panthers, Colts, Falcons, Seahawks, 49ers,Buccaneers, Titans, Ravens, and Broncos have all managed to get up, get to the finals, and ALL fall down to some degree of rebuilding (some of them more than once!) in the same amount of time that the Cowboys have only managed to win a couple of playoff games. And those are just the teams off the top of my head, i'm not even thinking about good examples of teams that were highly competitive that didn't make it all the way that also went through rebuilding. This failure is front-office stuff without a doubt. Multiple coaches have won super bowls and been fired in the span of time that Jerry has managed a team to a championship game.

I thought Garrett made some dumb moves too, and I think his time had passed. But I also think Jerry's meddling PROBABLY continues to have a role. People tend to do stupid things when they're being put under a high degree of pressure.

Garrett sucked! No one will give him a HCing job!

Yes Jerry meddled, but that is no excuse for Garrett’s constant in game coaching blunders and his lack of smart in game adjustments.

I don't think there's any doubt he'll get another shot at head coach of an NFL team. His record (in spite of some of his in-game decisions) was pretty good. And i say that in relative terms; there's fans out there that would love to have their team be somewhat competitive like the Cowboys have done over the past 10 years (and that's truly sad!). If i'm a general manager of a team looking for a new head coach, i'd take into account JJ's meddling, and having the ridiculously Cowboys spotlight being on JG all the time as positives. What's going to really suck is if JG goes to a team like the Chargers and actually does well. JJ will never live that down.

After listening to a big time Eagles fan,.I wouldn't touch Pederson. Says Pederson wouldn't didn't get along with anyone, not just Wentz. Defied players, other coaches, owners....

Same goes for Wentzie. Not a locker room favorite by any means.

I'd like to see what Garrett can do once free of the REAPER. As a head coach. So for me I say, Garrett.
