That sounds about right but I'm guessing the APY will be closer to $38.5M but that's pulling strings. One thing I'm sure of, his APY floor is $37.7M ( amount of 2nd tag )

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2021-free-agency-top-100-free-agents
1. QB DAK PRESCOTT
The prize of the free agent market, Prescott went down with an unfortunate injury after just four-plus games in 2020. With four full seasons under his belt, Prescott has finished in the top 10 of PFF grades twice while ranking closer to 20th in the other two seasons. However, Prescott’s 85.2 PFF grade this season would’ve been a career-best, and his 2019 and 2020 work is the most productive of his career.

From a macro view, Prescott’s play dipped as his supporting cast took a step back, but a revamped receiving corps has had Dallas’ offense moving the ball efficiently with Prescott at the helm. With solid accuracy, decision-making and mobility, he has proven capable of putting up high-end production, and he appeared on his way to establishing himself as an annual “top-eight” quarterback prior to his injury.

Contract Analysis: A second franchise tag would be valued at $37.7 million for Prescott, so the two sides finally agree to a long-term extension just above that on an annual basis.

Prediction: Cowboys sign Prescott for four years, $158 million ($39.5M APY): $115M total guaranteed, $75 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The total guarantees will have to be higher but that should get it done. The good news for Dak is next year’s quarterback draft class is supposed to be weak. I like Howell at Carolina but that is about it. This board is gonna explode when Dak signs long term. Moderators? Can you handle it?!

He's not taking less than the cost to keep him off the market ( $37.7M ) and frankly why should he. When it's all said and done, his numbers will likely mirror Deshaun Watson IMO.....

Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Baker Mayfield are going to get close to Mahomes money. Dak should get what you posted. I am concerned about his agent but Dak wants to be here. 39 million should be enough.:omg::omg:

What PPF may not have taken into account was on July 15th the final day to sign a player on the tag to a long term contract in the final hour or so Prescott was doing his own negotiating and they agreed on 35 mil a year but couldn't get the length and guaranteed amount worked out. Now there is another thing PPF may not have considered. Prescott grew up being a Cowboys fan and his dream was to someday play for the Cowboys. He's also smart enough to know that the extra couple of mil a year will not drastically change the quality of life he will have if he signs a contract at or close to the amount per year that he already agreed to. My guess based on all of the things that have been said about his character that he will be more agreeable that many that think that he'll hold out for every penny he can get. That was what Todd France did and that got him fired from CCA.

IMO Dallas will continue to push for a 5 year. Maybe with a 40mil aav if they get it.

4 year deal will make it even tougher to mess with the 2021 cap.
My guess is hey can use their adult brains and Dak will allow them a 5th year but one a 5th year that voids or reverts to player option under easily meetable circumstances.
But what this shows is the cost of waiting 1 year for Dallas was 5 MILLION dollars per year.
He was offered 34.5M last year and said yes if 4 years.

You have Lamar, Baker, Kyler, Kyle Allen... young guys are coming who will get franchise money and Dak's deal will either rise or already be signed and be surpassed.
The good news is new deals don't really have to cost you a fortune in cap money until 2-3 years later and buy then the cap will have risen a ton.

Ummm, not accurate.
France left CAA which is the second biggest company and TOOK ALL HIS CLIENTS with him to the BIGGEST agency.
It was merely a money deal where France was basically a free agent.
France left his high powered clients cooling for a year ot make this move.
Now those new long term deals get signed under the new company.
It gave France the most leverage anyone has ever had over a scouting firm and he obviously got paid a great deal if not a flat %.

Dak's agreed to deal was just under 35M. And France had issues with bonus amount, how money was paid out and length of contract.
Dak got involved and was fine with total amount of ~34.5 AAV but wasn't signing just as is and they ran out of time.

Then what happened?? Dak went with France to the new agency. Same as the Bosas and his other massive name clientele.
France is the 3rd largest player roster with many of the biggest names and likely moves up to number 2 now that he has taken a lot of Sexton's guy with him.

If anything this year has taught Dak that France was 100% right.
The site tied to both agents and NFL teams has just suggested his market value is 5M AVV higher than the best prior deal offered AND for the 4 years he wanted all along.
France was never unreasonable.
Dak made 31.4 Million and returned to free agency.
No one with a brain thinks anyone lost here but hr Dallas Cowboys.

Well the last go around he wasn't too agreeable and the deal was allegedly scuttled over a single lousy year. Hell it wasn't even a year, 1 lousy season. All that because he would need to wait one extra year to get a 2nd contract. That's history and based on that there is nothing that says that he will be agreeable to anything.

I thought the rumor was 5 years, 35mil but no franchise tag, was a last second ditch by Prescott/France.

I doubt Dallas ever offered a 4 year deal, as that was one of their main holdups.

The dollar amount has already been agreed upon since last year. The only dispute was the length of the contract. Cowboys wanted a 5-year deal and Dak would only agree to 4. A year later maybe the Cowboys will be more agreeable to that 4-year contract that Dak wanted.

Prediction: Cowboys sign Prescott for four years, $158 million ($39.5M APY): $115M total guaranteed, $75 million fully guaranteed at signing.
Strictly talking about your prediction..., the guaranteed portion on this 4 year deal ($115 million fully guaranteed with $75 million at signing) comes out to around $18.75 million guaranteed average per year. If the Cowboys left the total (without guarantees) the same at $158 million, but added an extra year (from 4 years to a 5 year deal) while keeping the total guaranteed portion at $115 million but adding an extra $18.75 million to the fully guaranteed portion at signing of $75 million, thus upping the guaranteed at signing portion to roughly $94 million of guaranteed money, it would look something like this:

5 years, $158 million ($31.6M APY): $115M total guaranteed, $94 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Would this work and be better for both parties?

Man I love dak but 39mil a year? That just seems too much

I agree a lot of money but it is the market, People love claiming Dak is greedy? So is every other QB and player in the NFL who expects to get paid market value. Watson is Houston was paid that kind of money and we will see more QB this year getting that kind of money. Many Cowboy fans seem to think our players should never look to get paid in accordingly.

You would think getting it done wouldn't be that hard now......in fact, it's my understanding they can commence negotiation now but Stephen said last week he needed to see the new cap amount first.
