why did we not hear this after nolan was fired?
it's always after someone gets the job that these stories get written.
i like Quinn...i think he'll do a helluva job.

Because no one wants to be seen interfering with another candidate's job search.
As a former reporter, people would tell me all types of things off the record or during a job search. But they didn't want it released because it would make them look bad.
After the fact, it's not viewed in the same light.

Since the Cowboys didn't say anything about Phillips, AGAIN why start a thread about something that had been decided before you created the thread. It might be different if the Cowboys had said they were considering Phillips, but they didn't say that so starting a thread because Phillips said he would come back after the job was filled makes no sense.

.
Okay okay...you've made your point sheesh.

This is a discussion forum and you don't get to decide topics. Let the guy have his thread back.

He would have wanted to turn DLaw into DWare as an OLB and DLaw did not like being in a 2 point stance this year.

Where have you read that Lawrence didn't like the two-point stance? From what I've read, the defensive ends were given the option to using two-point or three-point (at least after the initial struggles of the defense) and Lawrence was still using two-point a lot at the end of the season.

Rams defense was bad in his last season there. They replaced him and now they have a top defense again. Also, Wade has had a DPOY caliber talent on most of the teams he has been the DC of (Ware, JJ Watt, Von Miller, Aaron Donald). No player close to that level here. I doubt he would have been the answer here.

Man, did this man lose his pride along with his last job? He was the butt of jokes and the laughing stock of this team while he was here. The radio sports talk guys would contribute to paying part of his salary to have him back.

I also think he is vastly over-rated as a DC.

Per Ed Werder. Wade would have been happy to return.
*well crap,,,&,,, "Dingthedamnbellofbadluck"

I would've been wholly contented with him game planning our trench attack scheme
*
That ol' boy's D scheme in that last Denver S.B. Victory they won w/ him was spot on*o_O

Obviously Werder doesn't know that the type of players need for a good 3-4 defense or Nolan's 4-2-5 defense is not the same type of players that are in a 4-3 defense. Nolan tried to call Lawrence a OLB but calling a player one does not make him one. I read on one of the stat sites that all of Lawrence's sack and QB pressures were when he was in a 3 point stance playing as a DE not in a 2 point stance like an OLB.

I am sure that Werder knows the difference in the players needed for a 3-4!and a 4-3. He was reporting that Wade would have came back, nothing more. You sure assumed a lot from from him saying that Wade would return.

He revitalized d.ware. made vonn miller. Created the "no fly zone" backfield. Pure greatness.

I like Wade and think he is a very good DC but only when the head coach is the leader and strength of the team. He is a little too much of a nice guy. Im hoping Quinn has a serious leadership to him. That would be a start to turning this defense around.
....Quinn looks more Bad_ass than Wade does. ..lol. But maybe he holds a box of cupcakes too. ;)..

Wade is just a great dude.
He was my top choice based on just how good a person he is and his specialty which is quick fixes on defense.
Wade will go back and forth with Cowboys fans on twitter and he has no animosity towards anyone in Dallas.

I am very hopeful he gets another shot.
His last two teams have both went to Super Bowls.

All that said, MM wanted to be multiple and Jerry wanted to return to a 4 man DL.
Quinn met both bars.

So how multiple do you expect Quinn to be?
He was quite a lot in ATL.
And his base DL is the 4-3 under which is basically half 4 man principles and half 3.
How he mixes it up likely depends on whom all we can draft and sign.
He does a lot of overload at line stuff then assigns everyone a gap but it's diff from Rod because you own a gap and don't just shoot through it.

Gregory at LEO may well be a lot of fun.
Donovan Wilson as his Keanu Neal should work well.
But i just don't know who will play NT/1T
AWoods can play that but in rotation and they gotta resign him to get that far.
