I would take Surtain there, but wouldn't hate it if Farley and Surtain were gone.

2 solid picks.
i'd love that start.
slater could slide inside if tyron and la'el are ready to go.
when/if tyron is done...or collins...slater is ready.
for too long "that poor ol safety position keeps getting slighted"....it must be addressed.
i'd hate to miss out on surtain but i like slater.
.and darrisaw from va tech.
in the 2nd...i like n'western cb greg newsome...if they continue to slight "that poor ol' safety position".

No one is giving a 2nd round pick for Tyron Smith.

Washington got a 3rd and 5th for Trent Williams. A 3rd and a 5th is worth a mid to late 2nd round pick. Tyron is 2 1/2 years younger than Williams and also a better player. Both players have injury issues. Also, Washington pretty much had to trade Williams who was refusing to play for them.

Trent Williams sat out a year, meaning his body was fresher. His was a situation of reluctance not injury.
Tyron has fought numerous injuries, the last one keeping him out for the year. And he's not getting younger.
No team is going to trade a 2nd for Smith, not in his condition.

I'm cool with this. Realistically, we are not going far if we don''t have a LT. Yeah, our guys were injured. But the OL is currently in shambles and there's no guarantee those injuries heal.
Right, in shambles with a few 3rd/4th string guys. The defense was in shambles with all of their starters.

At some point Dallas has to address the lack of talent and depth on the defense. They can't keep pouring resources into the offensive line.

Completely ridiculous mock. Zero chance we take an OT at 10 unless Tyron is cut or retires. Even then I’m not convinced

Williams missed 3 games in 2018, 6 in 2017, 4 in 2016, 2 in 2015, and 1 in 2014 due to injury. In 2019 he had a cancerous growth removed from his head. That lead to problems with his helmet and the WFT put him on the non-football injury list for the entire year. In 2020 he was put on IR after an elbow injury he suffered week 16 and missed the final game of the year. Since 2015 he has had plenty of injuries.

Tyron missed 14 games in 2020, 3 games in each of the 4 season before that. Prior to 2016, he missed only 1 game.

But he sat out because of a dispute with the Commanders. Be that as it may, you brought up the Williams comparison not I. I'm just saying no one is going to give a second round for Tyron Smith just as no team is going to give up two No.1 picks for Dak. It's just not happening. Cowboys fans tend to overestimate the value of their players. Smith is declining. His injuries are keeping him out longer. I wouldn't hold out hope for 2nd round compensation.

This would be worse case scenario for me.

Would prefer to trade down four or five spots even if it’s for third rounder.

Jaycee Horn, Tuefele, and a tackle in the third rounder feels so much better to me.

At some point the offense is just gonna have to make due without four 1st round picks on the OL. Zero 1st round DL, so how about the Cowboys start fixing it this off-season.

Besides, Knight n Steele have plenty experience now, plus a 3rd or 4th round OT show good enough with Philbin working his magic.

Leatherwood over Slater all day and it's not even remotely close.

Leatherwood is Tyron Smith lite. He's incredibly athletic. Can play both tackle spots. Can run like the wind. Is a mauler.

Surtain is my top target, but Leatherwood is 1b.

I wouldn't hate it. Slater does make a lot of sense, upgrades LG right away and could replace Tyron at Tackle in the near future. Team's depth also improves, both Connor's would be quality backups. Since Slater can play either Tackle spot, their would be no idea for a veteran, swing Tackle.

Saying all this, I wouldn't take Slater over either corner as that position is in far worst shape since Awuzie/Lewis might not return.

I think everyone has the defensive blinders on, if he is the best player, they need to take him.
i think the health of la'el collins and how much longer they think we got tyron might decide it for them.

It's a good draft needing a future, starting Tackle. Having a player like Slater, we wouldn't have to hold our breaths every time Tyron or Collins goes down. He would still be a big upgrade over Connor Williams in the meantime. The more I think about, the more it's growing on me. It is very possible he doesn't even make it to our selection.
