Is Malik Hooker suppose to take Sean Lee's place on IR?
Is he unrestricted?

He may be a guy they can actually afford considering the injury history.

Would be just like Jerry to count on a guy like that...but I don't see many options until they can lose some of these underperforming contracts.

Id take Kazee over Malik Hooker

Hooker has been inconsistent. Why are we aiming for him?
Well, maybe his name will convince Jerry to open up the wallet...thinking he is getting something else.

Jk.

He tore an Achilles in September. I can't see him being 100% by August.

Terrific player when on the field but the injury history makes Lee look like Cal Ripken.

How can a guy who can not stay healthy be a top free agent priority? he can be a target sure if he'll sign cheap with incentives but a priority no, you can't count on the guy. He makes Sean Lee look like superman.

Yes, you realize LVE by himself cannot take Lee’s place on IR. Takes two or more. Therefore need to add Hooker.

And who doesn’t want a jersey with Hooker on it? Great fun name.

Somewhere, Jeff Ireland will interview him and ask him if ‘his mother is a Hooker.’

I like it. We ABSOLUTELY need a good FS and a good CB or two. I think we can get that CB in the draft, but this safety class is very weak. I agree we go FA there, and YES, we absolutely can afford a FA or two, or four, if we want. Even one that is relatively high-priced.

If you can play more man/zone combo with your CBs & Safety then it allows you to have a flex player that can pass rush, blitz or load the box.

In order to do that you got to have either CB/CB or CB/S combo that can play man or zone and shutdown a portion of the field. :banghead:

Crawford's history. The others have longer term deals which gives fo opportunity to restructure. Dak wants all the pie and a short term deal to beat.

They can prorate it over more years with a restructure. The consistent cap rise will make the dead money hit a wash.

Dak is a better business man than Jerry.

That only works if the player produces. If they retire or are released, then all you have is dead money. That's the problem we were in beginning with the release of ware.

If Dak gets the money he wants, you can forget about these guys. You'll be trolling the bottom of the barrel for warm bodies.

Warm bodies like your hero Andy Dalton? But its definitely Dak's fault they paid Zeke 15 million and Jaylon 12 million per year. :muttley:

I expect there will be plenty of tears shed when Dak finally gets the contract he deserves and signs long term.

I disagree with us going after any FA, pricey FA. I want the team to focus on draft, allow Quinn to implement his system, wait one year, get past 2021 and see what you have in current guys, drafted guys and then devise a FA plan. by then we can also get rid of Jaylon and perhaps Zeke, two fat worthless contracts on the team and perhaps say Bye to Tyron Smith (we thank you)........

Pretty much. I think people are just looking for a quicker fix. This team is not going to be fixed by next year. See where we are after next year and go from there.

These two guys should be the top FA targets for the Cowboys. Pair a top notch safety with Diggs and going back to 4-3 will help solidify back & front end of the defense. I like Wilson’s performance even with hammered playing time will thrive as the starting SS.

Cowboys should also draft Surtain II if one of the premiere OL isn’t there.

You have heard of the thing called the salary cap haven't you. Now with the cap for 2021 going to be smaller and with all of the big contract the Cowboys have and will have with Prescott, just how much cap space after allowing for their draft choices do you think is going to be there to go out and sign a bunch of free agents. Also even though you may not agree with them, there will be at least some of their current players who will be free agents they will want to resign. Oh one other thing, teams also leave a little of cap room for use if there are injuries during the season to sign replacements. So where is all this cap space coming from to sign these free agents?

Dak = Jerry = :dance:

Dak is the all encompassing energy and the omniscient presence in all football related things from players, fans, media, coaches, owners, food vendors, etc without him there is no joy in watching the game.

Dak won’t sign the Tag or New Deal unless Jerry fixes the defense.

You really need to learn about and understand the cap. With a smaller cap this is the first and ONLY time I've heard or read ANYONE say Prescott won't sign until the defense is fixed. There are a lot that say by signing Prescott there won't be any money to get defensive help, but Prescott not signing until the defense is fixed only resides in your head.

90 million for D Law
15 million for Crawford
50 million for Jaylon

They can make some room for them.

Restructuring or renegotiating contracts is what got and kept the Cowboys in cap he11 for so long. The more you go on this the more I thank God you have nothing to do with the Cowboys.

to be fair he also thinks Dak is an elite QB and should be paid 4” million, so he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed

You will get a few lower mid level free agents and you will like it. We will be looking towards the draft and our 2nd and 3rd year players to take the next step to improve our defense.

Hooker would be a guy I'd sign to a 2 year deal on the cheap even if he starts the season on the IR hopefully he can come mid-season and we have a full year after.
If this guy can stay healthy this guy would be absolutely perfect in Quinn's defense.
