I am going to say - I'm optimistic at this point.
The big failure last year was, as many have stated - trying to change a defensive philosophy during a pandemic. Nolen didn't stand a chance. Mostly his fault, but the FO has to bear part of the blame for attempting that.
Don't really know too much about Quinn, other than what most of us do - kinda get the same vibe as a Kris Richard type, but with more skins on the wall.
If he can hold the likes of Trystan Hill etc. accountable, rein in Jaylon Smiths showboating and get a good safety in here - who knows …
I'm actually a little torn when thinking about the draft coming up, and how that now relates to Quinn. I was all over "Tank for Sewell" but those dreams went down the toilet. I want this draft to be defensive heavy as most of us do. Its the 1st round I'm having problems with. Would love one of two players at # 10 - and its one from each side of the ball. Either Farley the CB or Slater the OT/OG. Followed by Moerhig the Safety in 2nd. And Im smiling all draft long. My head says take the CB first, Safety second and now we are playing with house money. But I also want that line and Smith covered for if he is really breaking down.
We will see how they proceed, but I'm willing to not poo poo the hiring of Quin and see (hopefully) what and off-season and TC can show us.
