They’ve dedicated draft resources to defense so the effort is there. LVE, Jaylon, Charlton, Diggs, Hill, Awuzie etc.
Effort, is that what this is about? If it is, give me a team with a full time GM making a full time effort to do his job.

And effort in the draft is digging out the oysters with pearls on those later rounds. All they've done is make picks and I wouldn't brag about any of those 6 you mentioned although Diggs might have something once he stops looking into the backfield.

So did they actually say the Cowboys need to sign Dak like the thread title claims or is it the OPs opinion they are telling Dallas to resign Dak?

When Prescott's stats weren't great, his team record was being used to defend him.

I agree, the W-L record attached to any QB is dumb to me. Is that going to get Phillip Rivers into the HOF? Was it Marino's team record that got him in?

Marino had three seasons below .500 yet he’s considered one of the all time greats. Russell Wilson is a great qb but noway does he get that super bowl ring without one of the best defenses of all time. Heck Jim McMahon and Mark Rypien have super bowl rings.

The idea that Dak or any QBs should be judged by team stats is ridiculous.

I do not see not signing him affecting the draft, more FA but then the Cowboys have to be players early in FA and there is no indication that they plan to stop bottom feeding in the 2nd and 3rd wave.

The assumption, and it is the purest form of assumption, is that not signing him gives them the chance to build a better D. Why didn't they do that already? 20 years they haven't built a true contender D and that's a pattern and a trend.

Agree but Jerry will spend all his resources trying to find a QB.

All of our SB teams were top defenses. People only remember the offensive players but even Landry was especially conservative on offense because he knew we had the defense.

It's simple and people like simple. People that use that as a metric show more about themselves than the subject that they're talking about.

I’m not making excuses for them and certainly not any happier than you are about the results. Improving the D starts with the draft and they were using high picks but the end result was horrible. To invest that much draft resources into defense since 2017 and become worse year over year is pretty awful. They should fire the GM.

I agree but I think he's got something on the owner, I've even seen pics.

With all the love for Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt, I need to remind the Arlington Jonesboys fan what Rayne Dakota Prescott did to Atlanta's defense under both of these men. I am sure the first thing Quinn and Whittare telling Jerry Dumbo GM Jones is sign Dak Prescott...

You better not signed Qinn and Whitt.

I think the defense is right. But the ones that actually built the Legion of Boom were Carroll, Norton, and Kris Richard. Seeing Quinn with a DC job, Gus Bradley with a DC job, and Kris Richard out of work is a joke.

The last Defensive Coordinator that led a poor NFL worst Falcons defense in 2014 was ......................................MIKE NOLAN.

Why is Jerry Dumbo GM Jones retreading rejects?
Only a fool would not give a man a chance before crapping all over them.

Someway, somehow the hiring of two defensive coaches became yet another Dak thread. We should start calling it six degrees of Dak.

The creator of this thread titled it to imply the two new coaching hires were quoted expressing their opinions on the Prescott contract status.
Come on Moderators -- do better.
OR - just establish a Dak Prescott Zone. And when any CZ member starts a conversation \ thread with the emphasis on #4's history & ability atcthe position, or pros and cons regarding his contract ----move it to the DAK PRESCOTT ZONE 4.

Not a lot of QBs that were on crap teams are in the HOF.

Yep, that's the first thing anyone does on their first day on the job, tell the boss how to run his business. They've got their hands full getting that D roster upgraded, might actually benefit them if they didn't sign Prescott?

Na, the best thing they can hope for is an offense that hogs the ball. But I see your point.

I dont know why we fail so often at drafting defense, but Marinellis influence didn't help.

great! Still a team stat.
Never said it was. Just that it’s the only one that matters. So when you trot out that Dak threw for a million yards in a loss it’s as meaningless as Kanye West running for President.

Nick Foles the very next week after Dak, put up 20 points in the 4th quarter, Atlanta blowing a 26-10 lead. Against the Lions, they blew a 6 point lead at the last second.

Not sure what Dak ‘did’ to a soft Atlanta defense that was 30th in attempts against. 32nd in passing yards and 27th in TDs given up is proof of other than Atlanta secondary completely sucked, after and this wasting multiple drafts in five years on picking CBs and a couple safeties and a bunch of LBs while Quinn was HC..

So are our new DC staffers so bad they made Dak look good or is Dak so good he made them look silly?
