Too bad Jax already has a rb-Zeke major connection

We saw former Ohio State HC, Urban Meyer accepting the Jacksonville Head Coach position this week. Now there are rumors that Scott Linehan could join him as the new OC. Both coaches have major ties with Zeke Elliot, his former college HC and his former OC with the Cowboys in which he built an offense around his talents.

Jax doesn't have many quality players as they are in a rebuild, but they do have a quality back in James Robinson. This would take away any interest of acquiring Zeke Elliot.

Unlike many, I still am a big Zeke supporter, but realize he is way overpaid, especially now with the offense centered around their passing attack and their 3 top WR's.

Well if they wanted him and jerry was smart enough to unload him, a deal could be done.
It would depend on if elliot wanted to go there, if he did he could adjust his salary to a level they were ok with.
They could then trade robinson for picks, or have both. a good run game would help the team.

Also we dont know how those 2 coaches feel about elliot at this point in time, elliot was a different player in college ,compared to what he has
become with the cowboys.
I have noticed that players tend to go down hill each year they are with the cowboys. Good before they get here, then steadily go down hill.

Interesting ......I'm guessing they certainly would want the COMPLETE RB to protect and take the pressure off Lawrence.

Yea, can't see that happening this year.

If traded prior to June 1st, we add more cap to 2021. If post June 1st, we eat 4.1mil and then 9.6 next year.

And if on the team the 5th day of the 2021 season, his 12.4mil base salary becomes fully guaranteed for 2022.

He's still in good standing with Jerry, and Jerry can lie to himself that the only reason why Zeke struggled was due to offensive injuries.

Add in Jacksonville has a clean slate for 2022, why add a pricey running back who has had declining abilities when you have a decent one already and the draft every year has potentially good ones for dirt cheap.

Might as well just keep him and ride him out. Nobody is going to trade you anything worthy for him.

I doubt Urban would want an overpaid diva that publicly threw him under the bus in college. He put up with zeke’s crap then because he helped them win a national championship, he sure as hell isn’t doing that now.

The only championship zeke could bring to Jacksonville now is the Nathans Hot dog championship belt, I think he could give Joey Chestnut a run for his appetite.

If Urban trades for Zeke than that is a bad sign for his NFL future.

Trading for Zeke would be a foolish move.

That's the fifth day of the league year, not the games...which is in March.

Thats what I've been moaning about for months...the structure of that deal.

Its not uncommon for salaries to be guaranteed that way for the upcoming season, but not the one that starts 18 months from then.

No big need for motivation on the players end and we see the results.

It isn't about just the passing attack., when zeke was drafted 4th overall , it was about adding an explosive home run threat to a Tony Romo at that time.

Just as many were drooling over the idea of adding Adrian Peterson to Tony Romo, when AP was released by the Vikes., ( many assumed that AP still had it)
But then 2016 came around and we had the opportunity to draft the home run hitting ZKE.

And as a defense, how do you keep up with BOTH an explosive pass attack that also has an explosive back ?
But of course as virtually everyone knows zeke no longer has such explosiveness.

I agree. And I think next season hes going to come out hungry. (not in the fat way) and hes going to look a lot better.
 Yeah, give him a top 5-10 O line and he may look decent as any starting RB in the NFL would. “A lot better” compared to this year isn’t say much either.
