I don’t see it happening because he’ll be a distraction. There’s too much negativity swirling around Thomas. Bringing in an aging player who’s considered a locker room cancer to provide a patch for a dysfunctional defensive unit that lacks talent isn’t a recipe for success. Bringing in these type of players hasn’t worked for the Cowboys. Besides Thomas isn’t going to want to be apart of a struggling team/defense.

I don't think Earl Thomas is a big enough lightning rod to cause a distraction at this point.

I don't think anyone cares.

Then how come he remained unsigned this season? Teams care about their locker room.

You think nobody signs him this off-season?

Maybe so..

I just see Dallas doing it.. I have nothing to go off of other than their history and how this move just fits the type of gamble they like.

It’s always possible someone signs him but it won’t be the Cowboys. However, the fact that no one signed him this season doesn’t bode well for him especially at his age.

I think the ship has sailed. Quinn had secondary problems in ATL and didn’t sign ET either. Find it unlikely he brings him here

These guys are laughable

If his head is on straight he can be an asset to us by knowing this defense and making the calls

at 70% this guy would be 100% better than the garbage we have been dealing with at safety for 10 years

that is entirely possible but I do know that the falcons owner is very reluctant to sign anyone with even the slightest character concerns after Michael Vick and the whole dog fighting thing.

Jerry Jones developed his player psychology program for a reason and that is to salvage people like Earl Thomas.

They need to weigh the pluses and minuses with bringing him on board. This team had one rat in the root cellar last season and he's flipped off his coaches on live TV. Is he worth the risk?

He’ll be cheap and they’ll throw stuff out there like how he’s been working with people to get his life in order and he’s ready to just focus on football. Yady yada.

He’ll be cheaper than Woods probably too.
I think Woods comes back on what they think is a cheap deal when no other team offers him much at all.

They are still proud of that 6th round steal who started all those games.

I'm okay with that. The more and more I hear from sources like aikman Brooks broadus and other guys that have access the more and more I've come to think that the previous coaching staff was very poor in terms of teaching and in motivation.

Some of the guys that regressed like woods and Smith do deserve some benefit of the doubt in light of that.

I wouldn't sign Thomas even if you throw the baggage out of the equation.

He was on the decline then sat out a year.

Dallas needs to do better back there and finally invest what's needed.

Forget trying the cheap cute way out and counting on it.

Woods was never any good.

No. I think he is having trouble with his wife. She has a restraining order against him. Just do a google search

I disagree but that's really besides the point. The point is is that he didn't play as well last year as he did the year before.
My point would be he is what he is....which is just good enough to lose with.

If they don't improve back there, they will continue to lose 8-10 games. Not up for that.

The safety play on this team has been awful for a while, and he has been a mainstay. I've seen enough thanks.

Agree to disagree. Peace.

Yuck!

From what I understand though they are estranged and if he has the capability of terrorizing her why does she not have a restraining order and if she does have a restraining order then why is he not in jail.

I refuse to read TMZ so does anyone have any idea of what actually happened because that headline is extremely vague. It could mean anything from him going over there brandishing a gun to him being drunk because he's upset on Christmas and playing the drunken fool.

One is unforgivable the other one is understandable and treatable.
They had an incident at a casino in Lousiana in June, another incident at Dallas in October, she filed for divorce in November, allowed him to spend Christmas with her and her parents to spend it with the kids and instead he went out to drink all night and came back the next morning and argued and he punched a house window and went to the ER. Cops were called, talked to him at hospital, made a report.

I haven't changed my tune that free safety remains a big need.

He showed some good things 2 years ago. he showed that he could get from the middle of the field to the sideline on 20 yard throws. He showed decent instincts in anticipating routes. he did have some issues with tackling but as the year went on he got better.

Then this past year happened and he completely fell apart he had no idea where to go and couldn't tackle.

Claire's his edge typically don't regress and when you see that happen the big question is why. throw in the reports that I've been hearing from Brooks aikman and others and I can't just discount the idea that his progression was stunted because of his poor coaching.

Of course we need to bring other safeties. And I wouldn't pay him anything more than one of Steven's two-year cheapo deals. But we could do worse than resign him and then bring in a top 100 pick to compete.

Quinn could have signed him Atlanta.

He didn't even call. He wants no part of Earl.

He would be a perfect fit, he’s a reclamation project, a head case and Jerry loves to sign relics to get the fans jazzed up (see Griffen, Smith and McCoy). Many of the Cowboys fans love living in the past, I couldn’t think of a better fit.

As a bonus, maybe zeke will pop off to him and Earl will lay out Jerry’s favorite pet.

I agree with you on all points and want no part of Earl.

With that being said, he probably looks all pro considering we’ve had nothing back there for years lmao
