So sign dak and build your defence thru the draft and you have a 5 year window? I really dont understand why this concept is so hard for people to understand. (not you) In general.

A certain poster here constantly said that Wilson will lead his team no matter what and win and Dak cant do that with or without a defence. Thats what I am referring to
Well look at houston, they paid to keep watson, but as a result could not afford hopkins, and they have a weak defense, so they cant even make
the playoffs this year.
Seattle paid wilson, but even though they make the playoffs last 2 years, they are one and done.
So it takes more than a good qb to get to a SB.
But dont worry, jerry will sign dak or franchise him again.
I think when jerry talked to mike, he asked if he could win a SB with dak, and he said yeah, so that committed mike to dak, and jerry wants to win
with dak. Partly because he chose dak over romo, and he doesnt want that to look like a mistake.

I think there is an order to building a good team, and few nfl teams do it in any kind of order.
Cin drafted joe burrows # 1, and then had him passing 60 times a game and running with the ball not sliding etc, and proceeded to tear up
their # 1 pick in less than one season. By the time they build a better team , he will be all beat up and older.

Dallas had the worst defense in nfl, and you cant turn that into a top defense in 1 off season. It will take a few years, or may never happen.
Dallas OL has gone downhill and blocking schemes are also bad.
Elliot has gone downhill and is over paid
Kellen wants to pass 45 times a game lol.

I just dont see how dak can overcome all that. So why have a high paid qb right now? not just dak but any qb.
Go with a cheap one and try to build a defense and OL. If you do that then get a high paid qb.

Mahomes has a great team, they got mahomes after they had a good team built, plus he was on rookie deal.
The question is, how long can they keep that team good, and pay mahomes. I dont know if it was luck or foresight, but they did it in right order.

Watching Meyer’s press conference, I can’t help but get mad at Jerry, which I don’t do that often, surprisingly enough. I was all but yelling last year for Jerry to hire Meyer and I think he’s going to be a fantastic coach in the pro’s.

Freaking Jacksonville got him and he all but said last year that he’d come to Dallas. The Cowboys franchise and its fans should have had him running this team.

I am a big Jimmy fan, first of all.

But none of those things bring guaranteed SB wins without the Walker trade bringing in tons of draft picks and free agents (and if he was such a genius why didn't every free agent and draft pick turn out great? But I digress).

And no trade happens without the Vikings leadership agreeing to it, that is the luck part of it.
Come on man? Bill Walsh doesn’t win a SB without Montana falling to them or Rice. Giants don’t get it without LT and company, Bill B, doesn’t happen unless Brady falls to them.
Let’s not go crazy here. There is luck and skill involved. The coaches who are dating and innovative get rewarded. . Jimmy changed the culture from the ground up. Without him this would not have won a SB since 1978. Period, full stop the discussion ends there. He was an unquestionable, undeniable force in this team. Just stop

Making the leap to NFL hasn’t been favorable to some of the biggest names in College. Because they can’t stockpile unlimited talent having an unfair advantage to most of their competition.

It will ultimately depend on the talent he amasses. He will begin with one of the best QB prospects coming out in years. In 2021Jaguars have 5 of the first 65 picks and 11 picks overall in draft.
Sounds to me that he will have a good start at amassing talent. I didn’t know they had that many picks. I am sure he will trade some

What can Urban Meyer do if he can't illegally recruit, circumvent rules, etc?

I'm not sure this guy really knows football as well as most NFL coaches. His innovative days are long behind him.

This paves the way for Saban to return to the NFL right after we fire MM.
Not that I would hate Saban being hired, but the way he treated Miami was a freaking disgrace.

I just don't see him sticking around the NFL very long if he comes back. He seems like a guy who NEEDS to be the one getting all the glory, and while that is easy in college, it is very difficult in the NFL since the Players are paid and praised just as much, if not more, than the coaches.

Just look at Bill Belicheat. He went from a GOAT HC to a guy who couldn't get a team into the Playoffs with a former MVP.

IF Saban was to come back and he doesn't win a Super Bowl by year 2, he will run back to College Football with his tail between his legs.

Sure there is....but there also NO salary cap on coaches, so it's asinine to not remove some of the luck factor when you have the opportunity....Meyer was interested in us, but Booger got conned by Corky.

Just look at who he hired as his OC...
Woof.

Edit: Wanting to hire. My bad.

He wanted the Cowboy job, he came out and said it but he's way too strong of a personality for Jerry.
Jerry either hears "yes" or he doesn't hear you at all.
