This may be an insurance policy in case they can’t come to an agreement with Dak. They could franchise Dak one more year and then let him walk and have a former first rounder at the ready. You have a year to evaluate whether he can replace Dak with all of the weapons he would have around him here.

And for the record, yes I would want Trubisky over Dak.... taking their contracts into the equation.

Look, I think Trubiski is a bum too, but wouldn't it be cool if it was just Chicago that sucked? QBs don't have much success over there.

I don't get all the fuss. He is more than good enough to hold a clipboard.

As I said on another thread, Dak= Trubisky.

Dont see any reason to have either on the roster unless they are cheap backups.

P.S. does the Bears version of CZ have loads of Trubisky fans wanting him signed for 40m?

I said this during last offseason. I’d be all for it but I also liked what I saw in Gilbert. Tribuisky has some talent. Playing with all pros everywhere would probably look a lot different than Chicago.

If Dak were in Chicago the last 4 years his career would probably be very similar to Tribuisky. Lack of weapons and OL will hurt a lot of QBs

You people are crazy. Dalton was fine as a backup. Trubisky would be fine as a backup.

He’s supposed to drive the bus for a few games if your starter is hurt

if you’re expecting your backup to lead you to the super bowl ... well, I guess we should go get Nick Foles

jeez

Not every player on the roster can be a Pro Bowler or a future star.

He is Dak lite, very lite.

Similar style QB so get why it's being discussed.

While back-up QB is important, we aren't winning anything without Dak right now. I'd roll with Gilbert.

Spend every available cap dollar on defense. Dak has the weapons; we just need some speed bumps on defense to occasionally slow down opposing offenses.

Gilbert played well vs Pitt. Im on board with giving him a shot. I dont agree that we need speed bumps on defense. The offense is usually slow to get out of the gate, they also havent been by good in clutch situation. The offense is good but they need and equally strong defense.

they probably believe if they can draft 3 receivers for him he'd put up 5000 yards.

But, but, but, but he is a former first round draft pick.....he has to be better than Dak and definitely cheaper.

Shoot. Sorry man, didn’t see that you’d already said it in another thread. Link so that I can laugh at you there as well?
