Did Moore really get offered that Boise St job? Just asking because I have friends that live up there and they said he was under consideration but never really offered it. It was just speculation.

According to Troy Aikman, he did.

The excuse why he turned down the dream job about ‘commitment to winning’ makes zero sense, especially since Moore got a three year extension here. Jerry must have reached deep down in his pockets of what Troy says is true.

I saw that but I was wondering if he ever did get an offer or are people just going off of what Troy said. I don’t know if we will ever know.

I think it’s all built on what Troy said. I haven’t heard any other source of the report, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to doubt Troy in this matter. I mean that would be blatant lying, unless he’s quoting from an indirect source.

Until the Packers win multiple Super Bowls without McCarthy then it's hard to make this comparison.

Packers also got a new GM, no?
They finally built a very good defense and pass rush to pair with Rodgers.
Not taking anything away from their new HC though; he's very good.

Without wanting to defend McCarthy and judging his first year in Dallas a multilateral disaster, it would appear, given the commonly used reasoning, Sean Payton is just as crappy a HC as McCarthy.

Seems far more successful than Cowboys without Garrett.

You clearly don’t know your history. GB went to like 10 straight playoffs with MM or something like that and won a SB.

I take it your a Garrett cry baby? Giants had like the 31st ranked offense with Garrett at the helm.

You gave your hero Garrett 10 years. Did you learn from your mistake?

This is a very weird and stupid comparison. I am not sure what you are getting at here. That Garrett is better than Mike? That Garrett was good?

Garrett was owned by Mike in his career. Garrett went to the Giants and had a terrible year, especially their offense. So again, what is your point here?

Sounds like his point was Garrett sucks, and McCarthy WAS much better, but since he became HC in Dallas, McCarthy now sucks MORE than Garrett!

Green Bay without Big Mac has had more time to be something.
They were 13-3 their first year without him, though. However, hard to judge Mike with the hand this team was dealt this year. Take Rodgers off that team, and they'd be fishing in the top 10 draft as well I'd assume.

Seems far more successful than Cowboys without Garrett.

McCarthy's Packers went to the playoffs nine times in 13 seasons, NFC Championship Game four times and won a Super Bowl. LaFleur is going to have to show sustained success and win a Super Bowl to top that.

Garrett's Cowboys went to the playoffs three times (10 years) and never made it past the divisional round. McCarthy definitely didn't top that this season, but it's not a high-water mark.

If LaFleur had lost his quarterback, I wonder how he would have done this season.

Packers fired Mike McCarthy in 2018. In 2019 and 2020 Packers make the NFC conference championship game.

Rodgers was hurt both of McCarthy's final two seasons. I seriously thought he might retire because of it. Instead, he got better and Green Bay built a defense to make it easier on him not to have to carry the load.

Those are the primary reasons for the success and the drop-off in McCarthy's final years. I do have concerns with McCarthy about the defensive part of the team's success since Green Bay was able to get that going the right direction after he left.
