lmao, we're going to keep dak and pay him 40 mil which he's reported still wanting and cutting half the team to pay him. lmao, he couldn't win with these guys but we are going to cut half of them and pay some scubs and he's going to be winning with the new scrubs.. lmao. yep that sounds like a great idea.

we paid Dak 32M this year and still managed to have 7 of the highest position contract on the team and multiple mid level contracts....soooooo, how does that go again?

I'm trying to figure out who is going to rely on Dalton as their starter.

I don't see him going anywhere else as a backup.
Me either.

He never showed me he had his old abilities.

As an affordable backup..fine

Rather look for a young arm.

We all agreed he married well though.

That's something.

Yep....and why would he back up elsewhere?

I see him back on a multi year deal honestly.

It's a tremendous move if you're planning to contend, which I'm pretty sure Jerry plans to attempt to do.

He wants more than 32 million. The cap could go down and the Cowboys have other contracts coming up they will have to deal with.

And for the record, yes I would want Trubisky over Dak.... taking their contracts into the equation.
Mitch the Beach is the worst starting QB in the league. I am no where near a Dak supporter but that is insane. Trubisky will never win anything.

I would be fine with Mitch as a #2 here.

My main desire for a QB2 is that he be able to run the offense the starter runs so we don't need two playbooks.
I think we saw that last year where Andy came in and needed 3-4 games to hit his stride as Kellen edited the playbook to what Andy does well.

All that said I'd just sign Garrett Gilbert because cap space is tight and Mitch if available won't be anywhere near the cheapest back up options.

I think we'd win as many games with Gilbert starting as Mr. Biscuit. He looked serviceable in his one start.

I honestly don’t understand what a lot of our fans expect a #2 to be?

We are not going to find a Tom Brady in his youth to come in and backup Dak.

You are going to find guys like Dalton and Tribisky.

I thought Dalton was a perfect backup: substantial starting experience and track record of some success.

I could see Mitch succeed in the right offense and Dallas has a very different level of weapons than Chicago.
BUT he's not a legit starting QB because he simply makes too many mental errors that beat himself.
Mostly I just don't see him as a viable option for Dallas based on price.

I think he most likely signs with a team who drafts a rookie to offer competition and possibly stop gap starts for 5-6 weeks.
Like Jameis Winston he probably needs to go to a good offensive coach who can rehab his game.

I'm fine with it, your backup should have starting experience

the cap goes down for 2021, because of covid, so lets not make it out to be that its going to be permanent...and btw, all 32 NFL teams have to deal with this lower cap. its not a cowboys problem only.

and some of the contracts will also come off the books as well, hopefully Zeke, Smith, and probably T. Smith.
