Tanking would have been the right strategy

Say whatever you want to say to make yourself feel better but it’s still quitting. We’re talking about people and how that mentality will fester in the minds of the players not pork bellies.

His figurative statement did not make any sense at all and I invest in stocks. Interestingly, he thinks he"s made a point, albeit..... well I really don't know how to warp your mind around it. You invest hoping to get the highest returns. Metaphorically, per his statement, tanking means you hope that your stock goes down. When investing longterm, there are fluctuations, but you don't like losing profits for gains because they are difficult to project. Who thinks that is a good thing? I digress.

The only time you tank is if the generational QB is there and you have a pretty good team. Only then you sit in the dark quietly and tell no one.

If you even felt that they'd really tanked this season, how would you really feel?

I don't know how much respect you have for this FO now, but do you honestly think that would increase if they set it up to lose?

The Cowboys had the highest attendance this season with fans taking chances to watch their team do what? Lose on purpose?

I do believe that would have been the last straw for me even though I was cozying up to the idea when it first surfaced, seemed like a fine idea. Lose now in order to win later.

But then I really began to think how that would sit with me, what I would think of this team that I have followed for so long.

I'm saying that sometimes you sell when you feel that something has either topped out, will plateau, or will drop. My point was that tanking in general is not really possible because of the necessary buy in from players and coaches. But you can sell your most sellable assets when you feel that the current arrangement has too low a percentage chance of succeeding in the ultimate goal of a championship.

I'm still rooting for the Cowboys every single game.

You don't build a winner by losing on purpose.

Seriously, a good portion of the fan base thinks Dak is a top ten QB, that's all you need to know about the complete lack of logic and knowledge.
Just so we are clear... you never post anything solid (facts/stats) to justify your dislike of Dak, yet other fans are the ones who have "complete lack of logic and knowledge". Enlighten us.

As long as you don't tank to do so.

That's cyclic. What in your mind constitutes tanking? Let's say that you trade player "A". You as GM feel confident that the team can likely win 3 of 4 final games with player A and will likely make the playoffs. You also feel certain that player A will unlikely (somewhere beyond 99 percent) be able to win against the other playoff teams. You feel this team might be able to have a more reasonable 50 percent chance at defeating these other playoff teams with extensive changes to the roster in the following offseasons (say 12-16 moves to the first team offense and defense combined).

You do an extensive analysis of different methods to acquire these pieces and realize the likelihood of acquiring the necessary pieces is extremely small when combined with likely player longevity (injury potential) along the active roster while accumulating these assets.

You come to the conclusion that the team will likely fall short of the ultimate goal of winning the super bowl (98 to 99 percentage certainty) in the next 5-6 years, but have a 98 to 99 percent chance of winning the division and/or making the playoffs in 2/3 of the same seasons.

Would it then be tanking/quitting to trade player A and any other player to acquire draft capital, when there is a 98 to 99 percent chance of not winning the division for the next 5 seasons if you do this.

There's a trade deadline way before the last 4 games.

Ah yes. Okay go back to before trade deadline. Same scenario. But instead of 3 of 4 games, it's 6 out of 10.
So you want to tank that early, wow! Tanking is quitting and for losers and you're not going to EVER change my mind. I've seen what a losing atmosphere does to a team.

So you are stating that trading players away qualifies as tanking. You are starting to contradict yourself. Which is it? Clarify your opinion.

And what do you think you're doing? Keep being in denial all you want. All you've done is feed Jerry's ego and his failed philosophy.

I'm being scientific by discarding an assertion without proof. what I am not doing is appealing to authority of a figure that I have no business speaking for.

And what telling you that you have no business speaking for Jimmy Johnson has to do with the ego of Jerry Jones is beyond me.

I do have to say your mental gymnastics are entertaining so keep it up.

Pretty easy questions really. You aren't afraid of trying to answer it are you? Do you feel the scenario I provided is tanking/quitting? And most importantly why do you feel that way?

Dude what is you problem? I never said that. That was your hypothetical that I was commenting on. If you're going to play these kinda games just get lost.
