The Cowboys approach at the safety position needs to change heading into the 2021 off season. With only one safety under contract the team has a ton of confidence in as a starter (Donovan Wilson), free agency could provide the other if the Cowboys decide to make a play. Here are some options to keep an eye on.

Its very possible the way the Cowboys operate they will just draft a guy but who do you think could be a good free agent safety pick up?

I really like Keanu Neal, but he may be redundant with Wilson here. Talented guy who had back to back injury years IIRC.
Feel like Maye may get overpaid by the Jets to retain talent.
Simmons feels like a Madden dream, especially with recent history of this team valuing safety+ his salary demands.

Unfortunately I feel like they'll aim low again in FA and try for a sparq guy in the draft

Hoping that with Quinn knowing the value of the position he could have some influence on upgrading it there and not shopping at family dollar. Im with you on Neal I do feel like he could be redundant BUT if Quinn feels like he can get Wilson to play the single high role at a good level then Neal could be the addition that happens given the familiarity.

Just pull a trigger and sign one. Stephen will look back on Brandon Carr signing but that worked out just fine as he was solid and never missed a game.

What’s the difference anyway? We sign our own sometimes and they suck too!

I'd be stoked if they could bring in a good safety in FA and draft a Surtain/Farley. Start building us a Legion of Boom 2.0 (of course we would have to come up with a more unique name not named Hot Boyz).
Yes can we please leave the Hot Boyz in the past, that was annoying. And made them feel entitled as if they were an elite defense.

They gotta change their tune at some dang point, we treat that position like the red headed step child its crazy
They think you can put any cornerback back there to just run around. Like safety isnt about instinct and route recognition
Im buying reggie robinson working out like i bought byron or awuzie or lewis.

I wonder if Quinn moves Robinson back to CB. I was really intrigued with him as a CB prospect given his ball skills and athletic ability. Also if one of those long rangy CBs that work well in this scheme.

He didn't miss a game, but did his contract match anywhere near the level of productivity? There are alot if guys that can be available. But what do they do when they are available. Look at Jaylon Smith, aside from that first year I don't know if he has missed any games. Is he solid (maybe, he makes alot if tackles)? But most on here see the fact that he is being paid to "make plays" not just tackles. Same with Brandon Carr , solid? Sure. But I am not paying that kind of money for a "Solid" CB. In my book, you value and pay all the OLINE , DLINE and QB. If it's not in that position group, then I only pay them if 1) those first 3 units are intact and 2) they are all pro at there position. As a matter of fact I might even try to garner a trade. I refuse to pay anyone outside those 3 position groups if they are simply solid. And to my point I'm not saying pay those 3 position groups blindly but I believe you draft them high and if they produce at a pro bowl level you sign them. I had no problem with Byron being allowed to walk. I had a problem with Zeke getting paid though. Zeke is good, but is also dependent upon the hogs upfront like all RBs.
