They were talking on sports radio out here in the Bay area about an article I think from the Athletic about a Niners trade scenario to get Watson. They said the trade would be Jimmy G, Nick Bosa, this year 1st and next year 1st if they Niners make the playoffs for Watson.

That would be a terrible trade for the 49ers. I hope they do it. Watson is good, but he isn't that good. Getting rid of two possible 1st round picks and one of their best players in Bosa is way too much to give up.

I agree with you. Way too much for Watson.

I live in the Houston TV market and see enough of Watson to think you guys may be underselling his quality as an NFL QB. His lines are always bad, only ever one good receiver at a time, not ever the threat beside him at RB. Yet he moves the offense and keeps a bad team in games in a generally strong conference. Fairly durable too.

The only thing required of the GM or owner is that they provide what is guaranteed in the contract. That is literally how it works everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with players that decide they don't want to play. No play, no pay. But Watson got a 27 million dollar signing bonus. That's borderline theft if he just wants to walk away without paying it back.

As far as players holding out. Pro sports is probably the only place where you can get away with extortion. Can you imagine if you paid a contractor to add an extension to your house and they stopped midway through and told you if you didn't also agree to pay them to replace your roof they wouldn't continue? And you have already paid them up front?

Except it's not theft st all. It's just..as you said..part of the contract.

What Randy Moss doesn't understand is that the "voice" these players think they are entitled to is the exact reason why fans are turned off. These millenials are forgetting that other millenials don't really care about football and it's the other generations that are the reason for their large paychecks. The end of the NFL is coming.
I never thought I'd agree w/ this, but it sure looks this way.
