Here is the full interview with new DC coach Dan Quinn for those interested.

Personally, I think Coach Quinn is a great DC when his primary focus is on that side of the ball. As a defensive heavy football fan and ex-player, he is someone who will focus on players fitting a scheme or focus on what players fit his scheme instead of making a scheme fit the players. He's an excellent mentor and will fill the void of a defensive teaching coach, something the Cowboys are lacking on the defense since the departure of Coach (Father Time)Marinelli and Coach Richard. For those who don't know, having a teaching/mentoring type coach/advisor is severely under-valued, at any level, for this sport.

I hope you're right. If I recall, the same was said about Nolan in regards to having a scheme to fit the players.....that didn't appear to be the case.

I really hope he works out here, it’s time for that side of the ball to get some work.

Man, I would run through a wall for that guy.

LOL...... on the right day, I feel like I might be able to get you to run through a wall for two heals of stale bread, with the promise of a few swipes of Peanut Butter on the other side.

;)

Nobody misses Marinelli or Richard. They need talent, health, and more than 3 weeks and no preseason to install the defense.

Didn't we just see the epic fail of making the players fit the scheme? Hope that's a typo. Rigid conformance to a scheme is a losing strategy and prevents a team from exploiting the talents of their personnel. It also shapes the way you draft, creating misses like passing on T.J. Watt.

It didn't take an expert to see that Nolan didn't adjust his system to the players. The lies of what he'd do came from none other than McCarthy, who didn't hesitate to mislead anyone who would listen about Nolan's ways. Dan Quinn has been known to fit his scheme to the players, rather than vice-versa. It seems to me that his history would count in that regard. Those saying otherwise would do well to wait and see if he's telling the truth. The facts will very likely be observed in due time.

That's what I don't understand. MM said in preseason that he wasn't going to make any major changes to the O due to a lack of said preseason. Yet he hires a Nolan who tried to install his system using Zoom. ??

I'm not sure he predicted that knowingly, thereby misleading everyone. I don't recall if he said so before or after Nolan was announced to be our DC. In any event, it didn't occur as it was supposed to. It surely didn't serve McCarthy's cause, when Nolan didn't act as advertised and pushed his complex scheme on the players.

According to everything I've seen, heard and read about Quinn, he's adapted his system to the players, rather than the opposite. We'll see, once he gets things underway. I feel confident the players will take to him much more readily than they did to Nolan.

Not a problem. Of coarse I cant find the article that quoted him on google as there are now hundreds of them saying his job was safe. But the article I read quoted him in saying he's not going to do anything drastic like changing the terminology and stuff like that due to no preseason.

This is the only one I could find.

“Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy: “The defensive system is going to change, some of the terminology, so there’s gonna be a big change there. The special teams is another change. The offense was the one I wanted to build off what’s been established
