The biggest fallacy of the don't sign Dak argument (and I know there are a lot of them) is that the front office that has had to stumble into its last two good QBs and has botched a dozen free agent signings and contracts over the past decade is SUDDENLY going to become all knowing and wise in drafting and team building if they don't sign Dak. With all the evidence before us we still want to trust this bunch to backfill the most difficult position in sports to fill AND surround that new guy with talent to contend.. Really!?!?!?! Are Jerry and Stephen going to get brain transplants if they don't sign Dak? Is Will McClay going to get better at pounding the table for talented defensive players even if they "don't fit the scheme?" Yall must have listening devices in the Star and know (and agree with) the strategy the Joneses are plotting because I don't know how else you can advocate for this move in light of all we've seen in the last 25 years..

This is your alleged "clear example."

You claim Dak threw off his back foot..

Here is Dak letting the ball go.. I trust I don't have to explain to you that this photo shows him clearly stepping into the throw with his weight on his left (front) foot.

You claim the ball was "thrown behind the receiver."

Here is the ball in flight with Cooper tracking it.

Here is the ball hitting Cooper in the hands..

Coop basically misplayed the ball. He said so himself. The throw was where it needed to be as the safety was lurking about 5 yards in front of Cooper and leading him too much would have put the ball AND Cooper in harm's way..

If you're going to make up lies about plays maybe make up lies about games played before the DVR was invented.

nah bro, here is the actual throw, if we are speaking about the same one, and not screenshots.

2019vsgb_dakprescott_intez1.gif

Cooper can be a nice guy and blame it on himself, but multiple points are clear:

1. Dak has all day to throw, with great blocking up front.
2. It’s play action causing Cooper to be wide open on the inside, meaning the safety isn’t anywhere close to making a play and if Dak properly leads Cooper, it’s pretty much, an easy TD going by this GIF.
3. As far as mechanics, which is what this is about, Dak basically properly doesn’t plant his feet
4. Dak essentially throws it with his arms, not his hips.
5. It’s behind a running Cooper going at full speed, causing Cooper to basically contort, leading to one of the infamous Dak INTs from a pop up.

Next time don’t accuse me of lying needlessly for the sake of a QB who isn’t give you a dime from his check or inviting you to his house to party with him.

Or Drew Pearson, Tony Romo, Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Cliff Harris......

Doesn't mean you pay him like he's the Aaron Rodgers of football.
What on earth does that have to do with my post lol? And for the record they are on pace to pay him what Jared Goff and Carson Wentz got.......

So now it has morphed from "threw off his back foot" to "threw with his arms, not his hips" ... Flimsy goalpost there dude. Do you have wheels on that thing? Both are wrong by the way since you can clearly see him shift his weight from back to front as he makes the throw. The ball came it head high and hit Cooper in the hands.. The only reason he had to contort his body was because he misplayed it and tries to twist to make up for it as it bounces off him. If he catches it cleanly, as he should have, he turns up and probably scores. A more leading throw would have led him into the safety who was closing from the right at the 10 yard line. Either way the BALL BOUNCED OFF HIS HANDS. It's a catch an NFL receiver should make 100 times our of 100. The ball cannot be behind if it hits you in the hands in front of your face. The misplay gives it the appearance of being thrown behind but from the low angle camera you can see Cooper tracking the ball in flight. He misplayed it. Maybe the ball had more mustard on it than he anticipated and got on him quicker than he was expecting.. Maybe the rotation of the ball fooled him. Regardless.. there is no coach at any level above junior pee wee who would accept his receiver not making that catch. Sure it could have been thrown more out front with more air under it. But more air = more chance for the safety to come into play. Putting it on the receiver like he did was the safer throw .. But he probably should have anticipated that it might hit him in the hands and bounce to the defender. What kind of QB doesn't expect his receivers to drop balls that hit them in the hands? In fact he should never have thrown it all since he knew the receiver was going to drop it.. right?

I’m not going to engage in this petty scherade with you. I said multiple things, including throwing off the back foot, sailing passes behind WRs and so forth. Woopity-doo, this wasn’t actually his back-foot, but the throw was garbage, he threw it with his arm, like I’ve said many times about his mechanic and he threw it behind Cooper, not in stride Even FuzzyLumpkins knew I was talking about his garbage mechanics, which Dak claimed pretty much vanished by 2017. I brought an article from “Blogging the Boys” that even substantiated and crickets were chirping from his side when he claimed I just brought an “anecodote” that gave plenty examples from the Bears game.

You then inserted yourself into this conversation talking to FuzzyLumpkins telling him to try and explain to me how this pass was a perfect example of great mechanics.

I mean if we want to nit-pick, the safety wasn’t anywhere near Cooper for him to be scared the safety would “take his head off”. The SAFETY was completely out the picture and you to type this nonsense when the GIF shows it is absurd.

I mean cut the garbage, with this lying nonsense. The safety wasn’t even close, completely bit off the play action, which is what the play design called for. The pass wasn’t right where it needed to be.

You should also challenge him on his description of the pick that bounced off Cooper's chest. That ball was thrown right where it needed to be.. Cooper took a peek inside to see if the safety was going to be able to take his head off which caused him to not get his hands in the right position to catch the ball. Later in the game Dak's second pick bounced off Cobb's facemask but people of this ilk will probably claim that was a poor throw too.

His mechanics were complete garbage like I stated and all your attempts to try and get out of it don’t change a thing.

And all your idiotic proclamations will not change the fact that the ball hit Cooper in his hands head high.. Not low and away.. not "behind." He only had to "contort" as you call it because he did not catch it cleanly.. He tried to snatch it and turn upfield.

"Threw with his arm.. " Hilarious.. what other body part would he use?

All your screen shots and ridiculous claims like “the safety was lurking 5 yards away” and Cooper was ‘so scared which is why he had to contort” will not change the fact Dak’s mechanics were complete garbage, with him not properly setting his feet, while he threw with his arms not hips, causing him to throw not in front of Cooper running full speed, while Cooper had his DB complete beat by multiple steps, but behind him, leading him to contort his body and slow down, with the safety COMPLETELY out of the picture, because he bit on the play-action as the design called for..

none of what you stated changes the fact that this is Dak’s consistent MO known to do over, and over and over again, going back to college, not just 2017 and to now, aka 2019..

Believe me buddy, you aren’t convincing yourself or anybody on this forum that was a good throw.. in the end, we all can see for ourselves how Dak’s mechanics were garbage on that throw. And the original guy I was arguing with has left the chat, because he even knows the ‘anecdote’ about it being trash mechanics is true.

Further, unlike you, I provided the actual GIF, while you went off some random screenshots to try and explain your POV, including this bogus claim of the safety ‘lurking within 5’ yards.. I too can play the “idiotic proclamations” as well..

“ha ha ha, safety lurking give yards.. ha ha ha.. since when is across the field, not even on the screen when the ball was behind Cooper yards... hahaha”

But when all is said and the done, the difference between me and you here is, I was right. The throw was complete garbage, based on horrible mechanics by Dak, with zero need too, period.

So like I said, don’t accuse me of lying for a dude that doesn’t even know you exist, isn’t give you a penny from his paycheck to defend him, or inviting you to party at his crib with him and the boys..

Dak lucked into this job , and into a team that had a fallen QB , a team who had the best OL , RB ,. WR combo and he thrived for a while . But his talent is just not there to take it to the next level as we have seen . He is coachable but there is not enough raw talent . He is not a great passer accuracy or arm strength wise , or pocket passing. And his running is mediocre. Dak is what he is ,. Dak. And now he wants 40 mil on a team that has massive cap issues.

2 years ago $30 million per year was too much. Last year $35 million is too much. This year $40 million is too much. All from people who hated him while making $465k a year.

And this is a public service announcement for anyone that gives a damn about critical thinking.

when anyone claims that they're 100% sure about something and that you shouldn't consider any other idea then you should not trust them in any way shape or form.

There's a reason why they call them confidence men.

There is a difference between being sure and having 100% knowledge of something.
There is also a difference between knowledge in science of nature or other knowledge like in mathmatics.

In other words: try to first critical think about definitions and meanings before you are trying to discredit others in a subtle way.

Now at the age smack. idiots can be over 42 it's not as if it gives you some sort of special level of intelligence or wisdom.

You completely lack anything of substance.

To stay with your language i'll use the word "idiot". I dont like the term because it does not fit what i said or meant. But you seem to like and understand it so for better understanding i stay with it.

Yes of course you can find idiots anywhere.
Still you can find more none idiots inside a group of people who are able to behave like adults. Also the probability that you are talking to an (adult) idiot is way higher if he still talks like an 12 year old.

In other words: most of the LOL-guys have not really meaninful things to say. They are also not persons someone who has something meaningful to say should hold talks with.

If you want to be taken serious learn to talk like a grown up. Else you will be treated like an idiot.

If you cant than at least show some self reflection and accept that the way you get treated is because you are the way you are. And not because people are treating you wrong.

you have demonstrated no knowledge. you make an assertion that he's not talented with no reason. You then try this lame big time crap.

What talents does he lack?

He is the demonstrably accurate, accurate under pressure, efficient, mobile, able to read defenses in quick order, have pocket awareness, secure with the football, and improving.

I made a lot of posts about that. I also wrote i made up my mind about him.
There is no need to write down this whole thing again.

I also wrote i dont have any kind of interesst to discuss Dak anymore.
If you have go find guys who want to.

Yet he's highly sought after by other teams, bad or even average QB's don't have that luxury. (Haskins & Trubisky)

But like you said, it's your opinion... no matter how many actual facts contradicts it.

You posted a ESPN twitter post that only shows their opinion. And maybe not even that.
Because twitter posts are not really the way to post facts or start talking about facts. For that they are way to short and really not meant for it.
It feels a little strange to me that you really use a twitter post to prove something. And i really start to having my doubts about your ability to gather and interpret information the right way.

But then:
Where are the facts you were talking about ?
Show me some posts from other teams GMs for instance that say for them he is a highly sought after player. That would be a good start.

And btw, who says that average QBs dont have the luxury ? Do you have any kind of prove of that ?
I give you just two examples to show that it may not be the way you think:
I remember when Kirk Cousin hit the open market - an QB most people think he is average - he was very well a sought after player.
Also when the Eagles backup QB won the SB (also a commonly accepted average player), he was very sought after the next offseason.

But you want to state something else. What you are trying to say is:

Sought after QB = good or great QB.
Not sought after QB = average or bad QB.

Thats a great scientic finding and it could revolutionize the scouting departement. In fact no team would scouts anymore!

Are you really serious about the crap that you are posting here ?

You know Ty, I think fans have to ask themselves whether or they see Dak as an NFL starter.....coz if you do, he's going to get paid a min $35M. It's the going rate of 2nd contracts for an NFL QB starter in his prime. You either have to pay him or find another starter.
This is very true and where teams are making big mistakes at the QB position at the expense of their team

Wentz
Goff
Cousins

If you spend it on the wrong guy you are doomed because they can't carry the weight on the field that the related cap number does to the rest of the talent on your team.

I think that is a very short list and Dak is not quite on it.

You act with surety with nothing back it up. That is exactly what conmen do.

Confidence is synonymous with assured. You are saying that you are sure about something and that people should just take you on faith.

What I am doing is not subtle. I am directly saying that you are behaving like a conman with specific reasons.

And spare me equating your assertions about a quarterbacks ability with any science or logical structure.

You can write multiple sentences of excuse and obfuscation but not a single sentence to back up what you claim because you don't care? If it walks like a conman, writes like a conman. . . . .

And you were commenting on Dak. If you don't like the responses then don't reply.
