We should go after Duce Staley

Oh ok so a bunch of anonymous players. This article was sketchy at best. The GM wants one coach, the owner another. And neither get what they want. It comes off more as guessing than anything factual!

He's been the assistant head coach for several years. And, actually, numerous players were lobbying for him publicly on Twitter.

So Duce has now been passed over twice for the Eagles HC job, despite being the clear favorite of the players. He's clearly a HC waiting to happen.

We should go hard after him for a role in our offense. Philly was screwing with us by interviewing Moore and Fassel. Let's return the favor and give their best assistant a job so he can eventually advance beyond the opportunities that Philly offers.

And give them a 3rd round comp pick? No thanks.....Kellen Moore is not our problem. Finding a QB is....and a defensive coordinator.

He's asked to be released from his contract. There is no compensation there

Right! They gave him that title to stop crying because they hired Pederson. Now he’s crying again. Let him cry somewhere else until he actually proves something!

You should run a team!

Guy's bled for that team and the players love him. But yeah, go hire some flavor of the week over the guy who has worked for years in your organization to earn the opportunity.

Lol! Well they’ve passed on him twice, as well they should have so he must not be all that.

Promotion? He's the assistant head coach.

Oh. So he wants to go to Dallas to get a demotion? Since he won’t be assistant head coach here?

The move makes no sense. Why would the cowboys want him? He has zero
Ties to McCarthy/ Kellens offense. The cowboys offensive coaching staff is already filled with a bunch of quality coaches.

It's interesting, as I recall, all the players loved Pederson when he got hired as HC as well. All the players loved Jim Schwartz at one time. I don't think the players loving anything should have much to do with the practice of hiring. You can never be sure what the motivation is for players to say what they say, in situations like that.

What does that have to do with him wanting to come to the cowboys? Or the cowboys wanting him? Or it making sense for the cowboys to hire him?

Him opting out of his contract doesn’t mean he would want to work for the cowboys and coaches he has never worked with. And it doesn’t mean the cowboys would want to hire him.

Well, I think that's a fair question but two things I would say about Moore, one he is from the Cowboys organization, going back to his playing days so the level of familiarity and time spent with him is considerable. The team has a much better insight into Moore and his capabilities. Two, according to reports, Boise St believed he was HC material, to the point that they reportedly offered him the job. Now, I do understand that that is not the NFL but it seems to be that he does have some standing in terms of HC prospects, if only in College ball, at this point.

I have to agree here. It seems to me that if you brought Staley over, it would have to be at the expense of Moore. Moore has a new long term contract with the team that was just signed. I don't really see how any of this could be done at this point. If I'm Staley, I'm not going anywhere to just be a RBs position Coach. I'm at least looking for compensatory pay and title. Staley is trying to move up in his profession, not take steps backwards. I don't think he would ever even consider it TBH.

Coaches want to work under different people. That's how you build a resume.

I never said we were interested, just that we should be as he's a quality coach whose players love him.

He's a RB coach?

He would want a raise in his next place of employment and that means OC job at the least. We don't have that spot opened.

Gee, he just made a lateral move to the Lions. Drink your shut up juice
