Green Bay is better last year and this year because they got a new GM who splurged on a defensive free agent spending spree and rebuilt that whole side of the ball.

GB’s drafting had been crap for years prior to McCarthy being fired and Thompson simply would not spend in free agency. When they changed coaches they also changed GM’s. The GM bringing in defensive help was the biggest difference.

This doesn't fit some's narrative.

They are a better team without McCarthy.

Dallas with McCarthy has seen little to no improvement with a QB that’s about to put us at a huge disadvantage because of his contract.
c'mon man seriously? How on earth can you possibly evaluate McCarthy based upon what he had to work with on both sides of the ball this year? He sure did make idiotic decisions, but I can name 30 other coaches who have done the same, look no further than the GB moron today who could have cost his team a SB...Pederson was the man in Philly...until he wasn't

Good post. Many think Marino is the best “pure passer” to ever play yet he’d played in only one Super Bowl and lost. I personally think Elway is the most overall talented to play the QB position, but he never won a title until he had a running game and a decent defense, It’s hard for a QB to win it all by himself, regardless how good they are. That’s the bottom line.
John Elway is so overrated.

Put Joe Montana on those Broncos teams they win the same 4 superbowls he has.

Elway was far too inaccurate and had a low IQ. His athleticism was what saved him

Of his inability to get to more Super Bowls with Rodgers. They got a brand new coach and supposedly it's all better now for Rodgers and look at what happened? The same exact thing. Rodgers choking in NFC title games.

I am not saying McCarthy is some great coach but stop with the narrative that he is bad because of how little success he had with Rodgers.

Rodgers is a regular season front runner. When defenses are looser and offense is much easier to come by. This guy folds over and over in big games. And McCarthy was blamed for it all. New coach comes in and same thing.
It appears MM is a above average coach is that good enough?

Honestly, it’s too early to judge Mike McCarthy here based on last year alone. He certainly made way too many in game management mistakes. But I’m not ready to write him off yet. He’s not the biggest problem we have.

Needless to say I think you’re 100% wrong, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

I never thought McCarthy was a bad HC in GB and frankly the critique he has received where everything that went wrong there was automatically his fault is total bs. Glad we got to see Rodgers flop again in the NFC title game. At some point you need to look at yourself an ask how you have contributed to the failures of your team. Somehow I doubt Rodgers has that capacity. It also highlights the difference between him and Brady.

McCarthy maybe a good coach but he will suck here. His job here is to make sure the lights are on in the morning and they are turned out at 5pm.
Jerry gave him a final HC contract and made him his puppet. He was supposed to come in a overturn the culture.
Just look at Washington, Carolina. Those teams hired a culture breaker and improved their team. We are perennial losers.

He had Farve and Rodgers.

He was the babysitter, not the coach.

you have no idea. All we have is Rodgers claiming that he sucked and Rodgers has been proven to be a coach killer. Given the giant contract for Rodgers and then the poor drafting after the SB win it’s tough to look at just one guy and say everything is his fault.

All I know is that if McCarthy opted to kick the FG instead of going for it on 4th and goal late in the 4th quarter this board would have imploded and we'd be screaming for him to be fired today. LaFleur should rightly be skewered for that decision.

Teams weren't exactly lining up to give him a job when he left.
