Hmmmmm Slater at # 10 why does this not make me feel good. Here is my true gut feeling
I like Surtain BUT I want to see his speed before committing if runs a 5.5 at his pro day than
Farley might be the guy however if he runs a 4.5 totally different story this is up in the air

This man isn't drafting any 5.5 40 corners and that's final.

We've invested more than enough on offense , it's time to start bringing in talent on defense..........
This is a weak defensive draft. All the top talent is on offense. You can get defensive players in the second round that aren't much if any drop off from the first round.

I get Slater at 10 if Tyron is questionable. Doesn't matter how improved our D is if we're starting Brandon Knight again.

We were starting Knight at left tackle because not only was Tyron hurt, but so was his primary backup, Cameron Erving, and not only that so was our right tackle, La'el Collins, who could probably switch to LT and be about as good as anyone we could draft. It was a confluence of injuries rarely seen, with even Zack Martin being injured after we put him at RT and Erving at LT.

Getting down to Knight as an LT was something that should have never happened, but it was far from a normal year as far as line injuries go.

The real shock of this mock is two WRs going in the first three picks. I highly doubt that happens but it looks like trades weren't an option here.

I do like that it keeps Philly from getting either Chase or Smith. It would bring back memories of last year when they had to settle for Reagor (and ended up letting possibly the best receiver in the draft slip on by).

Because 1) the NFL Draft is not veteran free agency. It's a talent acquisition exercise for the future. and 2) as a bonus, Slater can play OG at a very high level. He would absolutely start year 1 one way or the other. So that should please all you I don't know what the draft is really all about just give me immediate production folks.
I will bet you a one month ban they dont take an o-lineman in the first round.

Daniel Jeremiah has him at no 6 on his top 50 roght now(sewell at 10 BTW)

6) Rashawn Slater, OT
School: Northwestern | Year: Senior

Slater is a slightly undersized tackle prospect. He plays with outstanding knee bend, foot quickness and balance. He explodes out of his stance in the passing game and does an excellent job of re-working his hands to maintain inside position. Slater gives a little ground versus power before dropping his weight and anchoring late. His best trait is his ability to recover when he finds himself in a bad position. In the run game, he plays with quickness and urgency when working up to the second level. He takes great angles and is one of the best I've seen when it comes to cutting off linebackers. He doesn't have elite power to knock back defenders over his nose, but he does a good job of running his feet and staying attached. He has excellent awareness. Overall, Slater might lack ideal length, but it doesn't hinder him and I believe he can excel at left tackle. If a team chooses to play him inside, he should quickly develop into a Pro Bowl guard.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/...uding-justin-fields-zach-wilson-devonta-smith

1. Jacksonville - Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson
2. N.Y. Jets - DeVonte Smith WR Alabama
3. Miami (Houston) - Ja'Marr Chase WR LSU
4. Atlanta - Zach Wilson QB BYU
5. Cincinnati - Penei Sewell T Oregon
6. Philadelphia - Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama
7. Detroit - Justin Fields QB Ohio St.
8. Carolina - Trey Lance QB North Dakota St.
9. Denver - Micah Parsons LB Penn St.

10. Dallas - Rashawn Slater OL Northwestern
Heading into the 2020 season, the Cowboys' offensive line looked solid on paper, and that was after center Travis Frederick retired in March. But then injuries hit: Right tackle La'el Collins missed every game, left tackle Tyron Smith played just two and guard Zack Martin missed six. And what you saw was a poor Cowboys offense, even before quarterback Dak Prescott was lost for the season due to his ankle injury. That's why I think Slater fits in Dallas, where he could play either tackle spot or move inside to guard. Todd McShay thinks Slater could excel at center, too. He was another prospect who opted out, but he didn't allow a single sack playing left tackle in 2019. This is a spot to watch for Surtain as well because Chidobe Awuzie could leave in free agency.

11. N.Y. Giants - Kyle Pitts TE Florida
12. San Francisco - Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama
13. L.A. Chargers - Christian Darrisaw T Virginia Tech
14. Minnesota - Alijah Vera-Tucker T/G USC
15. New England - Mac Jones QB Alabama
16. Arizona - Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech
17. Las Vegas - Jaelan Phillips DE Miami
18. Miami - Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB Notre Dame
19. Washington - Kadarius Toney WR Florida
20. Chicago - Teven Jenkins T Oklahoma St.
21. Indianapolis - Kwity Paye DE Michigan
22. Tennessee - Gregory Rousseau DE Miami
23. N.Y. Jets (Seattle) - Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina
24. Pittsburgh - Zaven Collins OLB/DE Tulsa
25. Jacksonville (L.A.Rams) - Christian Barmore DT Alabama
26. Cleveland - Aaron Robinson DB UCF
27. Baltimore - Terrace Marshall Jr. WR LSU
28. New Orleans - Trevon Moehrig S TCU
29. Green Bay - Tyson Campbell CB Georgia
30. Buffalo - Najee Harris RB Alabama
31. Tampa Bay - Joe Tryon DE Washington
32. Kansas City - Azeez Ojulari OLB/DE Georgia

Well we are way better drafting O-Line than DBs. Thats for sure.

Still we need to start investing heavily on Defense. If we reallly go OT in the first i want all of the rest of the picks to be Defense.

If Fairley or Surtain ar still there at 10 i would have a hard time passing though.

I would rather draft a good Swing Tackle / Guard Flex Player in Round 2 or 3 and roll with the rest of of the O-Line atleast for another year and see if it was just bad luck or if we really need to swap almost all of the line.

The QBs always end up going higher with trades up.

Maybe one, maybe the last one of the top group, will be there at 10 and we can deal down.

I think we need so much help all over that may be the way to go.

2-3 later round contributors would be more useful than a top 10 pick.

Especially since they draft so well...

Totally agree, with so many needs, dealing back makes a ton of sense.

I wouldn’t take Slater with the 2 corners on the board it wouldn’t surprise me if he was the selection.

I think many are fooling themselves that Offensive Tackle isn't a top need. Clearly our OL is starting to age, first Frederick retires, then Tyron/Collins miss almost the entire season, where even Zach Martin missed many games. Selecting a player like Slater isn't a luxury like many think, but rather an important need.

Even with an excellent off-season, this team still will be relied upon on their offense to carry them. What I saw last season, against the good teams, they couldn't run, struggled to protect. This team is about to make a huge investment with their franchise QB, they will make it a priority to keep him safe.

Team has 10 draft picks to bring in reinforcements for the defense. Not saying they must use the 1st rd pick to address the OL need, but could be in discussion every pick there after.
Give me Darrisaw over Slater. Slater will wind up being an All Pro OG. His arms are too short to play either OT spot.
