I won't say they suck but I will say that I'd prefer our DC start off fresh with new players. I never been a fan of the ol' bring in players the coordinator previously had...especially when he got fired from that spot.

I kinda like it. He has more information on those guys than the rest of the league. It's an advantage to make the most of.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Im ok with that as long as he’s getting picks
He would have to do what he did in Atlanta.

As a slot corner/safety, he has been pretty solid.

Put him into a starting role, he's going to get trucked in the run game.

I really have no issue with any of the usual suspects linked to Quinn.

We just have to be prepared that they should be role players, not saviors.

That said, if I ran the team, I would cut Jaylon Smith, restructure a bunch of deals to kick the can down the road and sign K.J. Wright and start winning more football games.

The list is a start so IMO:
Safety Damontae Kazee - a FS that is better than what we have although could see Dallas take a chance on Malik Hooker from the Colts also either should be around $2 million for one year

CB Richard Sherman - understand the want here but not sure I would pay him what he thinks he deserves. Wants $14 million a year so the rumors say.

Safety Keanu Neal - definitely a SS in Quinn scheme and if reasonable would take a chance although I do like Wilson, Neal probably cost around $5 million a year for 3 years

DE Charles Harris - if we don't resign Aldon Smith then Harris makes some sense, just get the feeling that we won't do anything in free agency on DE

CB Shaquill Griffin - good player although probably far more expense than we will go, probably wants $10 million a year

Justin Simmons FS - if we are going to spend big in free agency, this would be my guy to get and probably cost five years, $85 million ($17M APY): $42 million total guaranteed, $25 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Leonard Williams DT - another guy I wouldn't mind but probably to expense, something like five years, $100 million ($20M APY): $53M total guaranteed, $35M fully guaranteed at signing.

There will be a number of guys that aren't on any current list once the cutting starts as teams try and get under the cap number whatever that will be.

Leonard Williams a guy you wouldnt mind,, I would be doing back flips but we both know thats not happening.
Wouldnt mind his partner inside though,, Tomlinson could be had

New Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has a reputation as a guy players like playing for. He’s energetic and approachable and based on some recent history, enjoys a level of loyalty from former players.

Question: Will Dan Quinn be interested in recruiting some defensive free agents to Dallas that are both impactful and at a price Stephen Jones won’t balk at? Here are some possibilities based on Quinn’s time both in Atlanta and Seattle:
  • Safety Damontae Kazee- 27 year old S who had 8 Int’s in 2018 for Atlanta. He was a 5th round pick in 2017 and started most of his time in Atl. Unfortunately, he had an Achilles injury that ended his season in Oct of last year. If healthy, Kazee is an upgrade for sure from Xavier Woods.
  • CB Richard Sherman- 33 year old former All Pro who starred for Quinn in the “Legion of Boom” days in Sea. I’m not normally a big fan of signing FAs who are on the tail end of their careers, but Sherman is a guy who can be a locker room leader and have a positive impact on the culture. He’s not as good as he once was but he’s still better than most of what we have. He’s probably a future HOFer. If his price is right, I would be interested.

  • Safety Keanu Neal- 25 year old former 1st round pick in Atl. The Falcons exercised their 5th year option on him last year. He is an outstanding tackler but not as much of a ball hawk. Avg speed but hits like a freight train. Had a torn ACL in 2019 but did return in 2020. Probably a more refined Donovan Lewis type, so we may not be interested for that reason.

  • DE Charles Harris- 26 year old former 1st round pick of the dolphins, Harris was traded to the Falcons in 2020 as an edge rusher. Had 3 sacks last year in 13 games, but has certainly underachieved for a 1st rounder. He does have talent though. Not that intriguing to me though.

  • CB Shaquill Griffin- 25, has played hist first 4 yrs in Sea. Never played for Quinn in Sea but comes from a familiar system. Griffin was a 3rd round pick in 2017. He made the ProBowl in 2019 and has 6 INTs in 4 years. I would be very interested in this guy in free agency.
Who knows if any of these guys will end up here but it is certainly a possibility the way free agency usually goes. Many FAs like to play for coaches they know and in systems they have had success with. We might see a couple of them land here.
Yes, No, No, should have kept eating Taco, Yes.

Sign defense, and then draft defense. Rinse and repeat.

Arm length, height, its all dumb, get the best players. Why should I give a damn what Quinn wants? He never built a good defense goofy
The book on Awuzie his whole career. He's right there in coverage but they make the throw right on him anyway. That's because he doesn't have the length to knock those down. The whole scheme that Quinn uses is built on having long armed CBs that can bat those away while playing the kick step with the trail technique. It's what they do. It's also what made Byron Jones so good in coverage.

Why has griffin been average in the same cover 3 scheme? Will he magically get better with a star on his helmet?

Clearly based on what? Their stats are damn near identical. Keep trying
Awuzie has never sniffed a probowl. Never will.

But hey you mention stats. Griffin just had 3 interceptions last year, multiple interceptions in one year is also something Awuzie has never done.

PFF does stats and according to them Griffin's overall score last year was 64.1, Awuzie was 51.9

Clearly Griffin is the better player. Griffin clearly fits Quinn's defense as well which Awuzie does not.
