Imagine drafting 3 Hall of Famers in one draft. The Cowboys 1964 draft produced that. Here are the products of the 1964 draft:
  • Round 2- Mel Renfro- HOF CB who played 14 seasons. One of the best corners ever to play.
  • Round 7- Bob Hayes- HOF WR whose speed literally changed the NFL. Only NFL player to win an Olympic Gold medal and later a SB ring.
  • Round 10- Roger Staubach- HOF QB who also won the Heisman trophy at Navy. Won 11 playoff games including 4 NFC Championship games and 2 SBs.

Getting Dak and Zeke in the same draft was pretty good. I also liked 2005 getting: Ware, Spears, Canty, Burnett, Barber, and Ratliff.

I agree. We also drafted offensive lineman Jake Kupp who is in the Saints hall of fame.

The Dirty Dozen in 1975 was the overall best. Randy White, Thomas Henderson, Bob Bruenig, Pat Donovan, Herb Scott, Randy Hughes, etc. Twelve rookies making a team is remarkable.

1975 draft absolutely best ever. Eight starters for one year or morte out of position players. I was there in NYC for the first three rounds.

1a Randy White HOF
1b LB Hollywood Henderson most athletic Cowboy LB ever, 9.5 speed, made Pro Bowl one year
2 Burton Lawless, G starting guard for several yeras
3 Bob Breunig, long time starter, 1st at SLB, then MLB
4 Randy Hughes, Safety, started one year, was stuck behing Cliff Harris and CharlieiWaters; best 3rd safety in Cowboys' history; a turnover producing machine
4. Pat Donovan, LOT, multiyear starter, several Pro Bowls
plus
Scott LAIDLAW FB, major contributor as rookie, great 3rd down back, pass protector
Herb SCOTT, Guard multi-year starter and several Pro Bowls
Mike Hegman, LB a multi-year starter
MITCH HOOPES Punter

3 HOF players in one draft is hard to beat. 75 was a great draft but just hard to top 64

The '75 draft was better, 8 starters including one Hall of Famer. Three LB's, three offensive lienmen in one draft? Plus HOF defensive tackle with 4.6 seed. wow!! Simply amazing!

Super-sub safety Randy Hughes in Super Bowl XII 1978 recorded 5 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception

This '75 draft allowed the team to reboot on the fly. It constitutes the greatest one year infusion of talent from one draft in Cowboys history.

No coincidence that in 1964 the person in charge of the draft knew his rear end from his elbow.
