Here we go with these reporters reporting stuff everyone already knew for a whole year. The 2nd surgery is actual news, tho.

At this point, we are seeing the incompetence of the FO. Sign him or trade him, but this limbo shyt is old and stale. Commit to a QB, develop an identity and wins some games, sheesh.

The leadership of this team is fractured.

Wonder if they've already baked this into the budget......$37.5M. Either way, considering his injury, it would not surprise me at all if Dak forces this issue a bit more. In other words, he wants his security NOW, not another year. Especially seeing so many QB needed teams out there.

As opposed to what, letting him walk? Rapoport is not breaking any real news here. I think every one figured if they could not sign Dak to a long term deal they would franchise him. But then what? Do they trade him or keep him on the franchise tag, because they cannot afford to franchise him again next year. Dak knows it, his agent knows it and I the Joneses know it. If they franchise Dak again then he has all the leverage in 2022. If they franchise Dak again this year, they almost certainly have to trade him if he does not agree to a deal.

No mention if the tag is exclusive or non-exclusive. Non-exclusive makes the most sense and gives us better bargaining power.

People poohpoohing this news when there is actually new information...no one had heard about a second surgery.
You can tell by the comments some people didn't even see that part. Just read the title and replied. Par for the course on this site lol.

Yeah well, your opinion is just flat out wrong. Accept it and move on.
Or maybe except that a lot of others have a different opinion in life not just this... Accept varying opinion doesnt have to always agree with yours,,, and move on

nit new news niothig we didnt expect,,

yes the unknown is is Dak will to not sign the FT until last minute , hold out of sorts to se if the DC FO flinches because tht would leave the draft and FA opportunity to go with QB a tough decsions like will he sit out the entire year? or just act like that but if he waits till after the last hour pof deadline to sign the FO will not know and have to bring in a true veryt or draft a QB higher then they wanted,..

who flinches first will be the question..i just hope both sides see some room to go further to the middle then they did last year and work it out before the draft..if it linger until june or july and he hasnt inked the FT this could be a tough choice on how thr FO deal with it as BU QB option goes..

Dak had a 2nd surgery?

I'll answer my own question...

According to the link in the OP:

"Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle Oct. 11 in a win over the New York Giants, leaving the field on a cart and in tears. He underwent surgery that night, during which doctors' primary concern was preventing infection, and they did so successfully.

Sources say Prescott underwent a second -- and previously unreported -- procedure on the ankle about two months later to strengthen his deltoid ligament, clean out the ankle and make it more structurally sound. That procedure wasn't directly related to the October surgery; rather, doctors then spotted issues related to past injuries to the same ankle, and so once the risk of infection was eliminated, they went back in to clean up the rest.

After the second surgery in early December, Prescott had to take about a week off from rehab to let the wound heal, but it improved the stability and integrity of the ankle and should accelerate his overall recovery, per sources. He's now walking without issue, doing weight-bearing exercises and is expected to be ready for action long before the 2021 season begins.

That's one reason there are no medical concerns, sources say, for the Cowboys with regard to offering Prescott a nine-figure contract that would put him among the NFL's highest-paid players. If anything, Prescott is considered a little ahead of schedule in what was initially pegged as a four- to six-month recovery."

Sounds very good!

This explains why he was walking one week. As in that video of him and Zeke. Then the next week he was back on crutches.

And, no, Zeke is not fat and did not step on it, which is why he had a 2nd surgery.

I haven't necessarily assumed Dak won't get another contract. Seemingly, he might have to temper his demands to something more compatible with the team's need to improve. He was all about serving the team's needs in the past. He should rightfully see fit to do so now, imho.

Their chances of competing much better than they have won't be enhanced if he insists upon anything near the $40 mil mark that he seems so determined to get. He will still be able to get what he needs and more, with the additional benefits of outside revenue.

I'm hoping he finally realizes that being paid an elite amount isn't ideally practical for himself, nor the team. I think $34.5 mil for four years should serve his needs and allow the team a reasonably decent chance to improve their defense as needed.

The notification I got on my phone made it sound like they had agreed in principle to a contract and Dak would be signing soon. Actually the only thing new in the story is the 2nd surgery. Talk about a clickbait notification.

Just get it done you idiots, and you idiots I mean both parties
Exactly
The tag is security and it’s common to use it
But it’s in the best interest of the team to get it done ASAP
Like today lol
