Staubach was called Captain America because of his military service and playing for "America's Team".

i still think the best are Hollywood Henderson, Too Tall Jones, Bullet Bob Hayes, Rodger the Dodger, Michael the Playmaker Irvin, and Dandy Don Meredith, ..... all just have that flair to them and engrained in our memories. When you say their names you automatically include that nickname. It has become a part of them.

I've been a Cowboys fan since their very first day in the league, but there are some nicknames here that I just know who they are.
Little Pudding
4 Irishmen and a Scott
Black Unicorn
Jump up
Double Digit
Sweet Lips
Last Naked Warrior
Scoey

I think some or all of these are names that were used in a single article and not used again or maybe one other time and that hardy constitutes having a real nickname. A real nickname is one that is used often and to the extent that it's used more than their real name. Nicknames started by and used by some here really aren't nicknames because you can't go to other places with other football fans from all over and use those nicknames and they will know who you're talking about.

Hear are some hints:
Cowboys FB that you may have thought Cowboy was his nickname
Before the Great Wall there was....
He exposed Everybody's All American
He kept getting knocked down but Jerry can't keep him down
One more D would have given you his first name
His performance at S was greater than another famous nickname S
Cowboys traded for this warrior because he was smart
He has been called this nickname by family, close friends, and few Cowboys and is on this list twice

These are 2 easy but great nicknames:

Butch - Michael Johnson, the one with the Super Bowl XII catch
Iron Mike - Mike Ditka
Tex - Texas Ernest Schramm
The Mad Bomber - Clinton Longley
K-Mart - Kelvin Martin
Babe - Brandon Laufenberg (cost the Cowboys the playoffs in 1990).
Bonus - Barbie - Robert "Bobby" Carpenter (had his best game in the Seattle playoff game Romo lost then made a game closing interception vs. Romo as a Lion.

If you want to play a TV game show, I'm not interested. I've been a Cowboys and NFL fan since the first day the Cowboys came into the league and I can tell you that the "nick names" I questioned you on are not real universally accepted nick names that either you made up and are try to push them as legit or someone here used them and now you think they're legit.. Oh and one of them was used as part of his real name (the BEAUTIFUL Harvey Martin) If you want to give their real names fine, if not I'm not going to lose any sleep over not knowing who your "nick names" refer to.

Yep, pretty easy ones, but should still make the list. Admittedly there were a number on the OP's list that I did not know.

Why the kill joy? Some of these is so easy for a "1st day the Cowboys came into the league" fan, I question your hate or your love for the Cowboys. Some are supposed to be hard or it would not be a challenge.

So you can answer or not answer. Also you would know that before he was "Beautiful" from a over bite corrective dental surgery, "Beautiful" nickname from fans was a popular dry cleaning business. I am sure a "1st day the Cowboys came into the league" fan would know that nickname. Maybe?

Have your usual 25 year NFC and Super Bowl drought off season of fun following the Arlington Jonesboys.

Know why Meredith nicknamed Garrison Little Puddin'? Garrison was playing w/ a hangover and had a roaring headache. So what does Don do? Starts calling running plays up the middle, of course!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Walt was limping back to the huddle, Don looks at him and says "You are P......". But, since I can't call you that in public, I'll call you "Little Puddin'". No one else will know, but we'll know what it really means!!!

Walt tells the story the best!!!!
That's just like Landry sending Drew Pearson on a deep post after he injured himself spiking the ball after a TD. Leadership and accountability has been gone for the Dallas Cowboys since Jerry Dumbo GM Jones fired Jimmy Johnson.

The BEAUTIFUL Harvey Martin got that nick name not from fans but a radio announcer from KLRD because of his smile where at some point after that Martin had his own radio show called The Beautiful Harvey Martin Show on KLRD. I'm sure after that radio announcer started that nick name fans started using it to, but fans didn't start it. Next I have been a loyal fan of the Cowboys and I don't get where you question whether I love or hate the Cowboys. This explains why you think if a couple users here make up a nick name that fans that are not on this board would know those nick names but it somehow moves into a universally accepted nick name like real nick names.

Lastly where you got the idea that I don't want the Cowboys to win Super Bowls and that I revel in off seasons when they don't is beyond anyone's imagination. Just admit you made up some of those nick names or someone on this board did and that does not make them real nick names that the vast majority of Cowboy fans know. Real nick names are ones that are known enough that national sportswriters may use or national sports announcers may use, not ones made up on a comment board by a user. Oh one more thing, if some are not to be easy and some are supposed to be hard, if they're hard then they really aren't WIDELY ACCEPTED nick names.
