Would the Cowboys be in the Super Bowl if they had just signed Brady?

You don't understand a team can't pay an average quarterback elite money and win a superbowl. The Cowboys want a longer contract to move the cap money around and Dak wants a shorter one to come back to the table for more money. The GOAT worked with his team on his salary to build a team around him. It doesn't look like a less talented quarterback in Dallas is willing to do the same.

2001-2020 Winning Superbowl QBs
17 HOF Brady, Roethlisberger, Peyton, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes?
3 Not HOF Eli, Foles, Johnson

The lesson of the last 20 years is that you need a HOF QB. Is that Dak? Conceivable, but I think unlikely.

With a Not HOF QB, you better have a tremendous defense. That *ain't* us.

I'd rather build a strong, young team, and go fishing for young, cheap running QBs, hoping we hit on one as a HOFer someday. Developing QBs should always be a high priority.

NE, since 2001,Brady's first SB, spent
2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 6, 7, 7, 7 *with* SB MVP Brady as a starter.
We spent
2,4,4,5,7, and that 2 was only to draft Quincy because we had *no* starter.

Dak is so good and so accurate he makes Brady look like an amateur. If he hadn't got hurt I feel sure his 1-3 record would've gone to 4-12 and he would've won the all time passing yardage award for the NFL....oh....wait.....they don't have Super Bowls for that??

JJ was a moron not to take Brady. In fact both Jones are morons and this team is doomed to mediocrity forever. I'll be dead before it ever sees another playoff game much less a SB. I don't even watch anymore after being a fan since 1960. Besides our antennas down here on Robicheaux Bayou don't pick em up. Just the Saints. Better things to do on Sunday now like participate in this fun forum's game day menu thread (I get lonely being alone w no car) and eat good food that I can't taste, but the only game we get is da Saints. Who dat!! Done with the Cowboys country club ringmaster's circus. The Jones bogans can both go jump in the lake. Caddo Lake would be good - day got gators in dat one.

Hate to nitpick, but your HOFers only add up to 14, not 17. You forgot Drew Brees. Eli won twice and that bum Flacco.

Although I can't be certain since I haven't talked to him lately, but do you really think Brady would have played for the Cowboys? There's a reason he went to Tampa. They had the pieces in place to make a run.

You're right, they didn't try. Here's why. I just want you to understand how hopeless that was so you don't have to wonder what could have been.

Nothing leads me to believe Brady is playing for money at this point in his career. Between him and his wife they probably have more money than some countries. He's playing for fun and to win. No amount of money would have seduced him to be miserable.

Knowing this, reaching out to Brady while trying to work out a deal with Dak could mean you losing both quarterbacks. Dak would hear about it, and raise his demands another 5 million a year LOL.

Yeah, forgot Brees. Cant count. Too late to edit.

Well, at least your main point was spot on. If you don't have a tier 1 quarterback, you better have a damn good defense. The 2002 Bucs were real good. Both Giants defenses were playing very good down the stretch, especially 2007. I'd even throw in the 2013 Seahawks. Wilson was not the quarterback he is today. The only exception I'd say is Flacco. I don't recall that defense in 2012 being that good. I think a notch above average. But I could wrong, I forget.

Jerry Jones would have meshed terribly with Brady. It would not have been good.

With Jaylon Smith leading the defense? You could have the 90's offense out there and still lose with our defense.
Don't exclude the appearances of LVE and SLee....that would be a disservice to them.

This is a very accurate point. The Cowboys can’t just unilaterally change the contract to move money around, Dak and his agent gave to agree. And based on what appears to the line in the sand for them, it’s reasonable to expect that, if the Cowboys want to redo the contract in 2 years, Dak and his agent will demand even greater compensation.

I’m neither a Dak lover nor hater. I think the TEAM can win a Super Bowl with him. But the optics of the rumored/reported demands do not give me warm and fuzzies about his priorities and, more importantly, how they will impact the ability to build a championship caliber team.

Now, on the other side, I have even less confidence that Bozo can build a championship caliber team even if Dak does a “team friendly” deal.

How do we know they didn't contact his agent? But, even so, after last year I think most teams were thinking Brady was sliding. We know now he wasn't sliding as much as some thought, but that wasn't the prevailing thought a year ago. And, even so, it wasn't Brady that carried the team yesterday. He did play well - I'm not suggesting otherwise. But the biggest difference maker for TB was the defense. And it wasn't just this game. Tampa had a strong defense all year.

The Cowboys could have had King Kong playing QB last year and it still wouldn't have made a lot of difference.

So no.

You think he would win less games than the 3 backups combined?

And yet....Brady has ring #7 with a roster that has just about the same talent as us.....Go figure.

We get healthy....get a QB....fix the O-line.....get some LBers that can run....a FS....I think we will be OK.

lol you’re such a bad liar. Either that or dumb. Which one is it floaty.
