Huh? Goff and Wentz are solely being unloaded because of their ridiculous contracts. No way to spin that any other way. Goff and Wentz are not worth $30M+. I doubt the Rams think Stafford (minus 2 1st round picks) and the Eagles think Hurts will lead them to the promised land in the next two years.
No dummy they are not.
They were both benched and beaten out by younger players.
That's why they are being unloaded.

Unlike Dallas where when Dak went down the offense tanked, in LAR and PHI the offenses were as good or better with back ups taking over.

Gee I wonder why.

First few years they didnt want to talk wins, only stats. Now they only want to talk wins and not stats. Gee, I wonder why.
Has nothing to do with it.
If anything, it emphasizes Wentz' falling off a cliff more....as it turns 2020 into 1/3 of his data instead of only 1/5th.

If someone wants to see their career numbers, that's easy enough to find in one button click.

We are looking forward. GMs looking to acquire a player would look at the last 2-3 years or so more than further back, normally.

Like I said before....Cam Newton or Ryan Tannehill 5+ years ago does not tell us how they are now.

Here are the Rushing TDs minus Lost fumbles over the last 48 games

Prescott +2 (16-14)
Goff -7 (9-16)
Wentz -13 (6-19)

So Total TDs - Total Turnovers
  1. Wentz +44 (97-53)
  2. Prescott + 40 (88-46)
  3. Goff +32 (89-57)
The point is of this thread was not to make one look better than the other.
I was just curious how they have done more recently...as in last 48 games.
What was surprising was how similar their stats are.
Not terrible, but nothing special either.
It's not surprising at all.
By using an artificial 48 games total you brought in the worst period of Dak's career while minimizing the rookie season and his 2020 totals which were top of league.
And with those worst of career totals shining he still was significantly better than Goff with elite players around him and Wentz who was an MVP candidate during the 48 game window with an offense good enough to win a SB starring Nick Foles.

Literally zero reason to not just use career numbers other than to minimize the guy who was far superior as a rookie.

I tend to agree that Wentz can bounce back somewhere but he has real issues he has not addressed.
Dak's play from mid 2019 on is why you rank high far higher than these two guys whose play hit a wall then went in reverse over the same period.

If you don't understand the value of more recent data vs older data, then I can't help you.
This is the three most recent and relevant full years of data....not some pick a game here or there thing.

No GM in the NFL entering the year 2021 gives a flying crap what a player did in 2016. On the other hand, they do care more how Wentz , for example, played in 2020 than how he did in 2016 or 2017.
The further back you go in time, the less relevant it is to right now and next year.
How can you not grasp that?

You guys get so defensive.
I've always, for the most part, been in Dak's corner.

If you don't like the most recent time frame, then don't participate in the thread.

Geez, I wonder why you didn't do that??
Too small factor... OK use 2018, 2019, 2020.
48 games played is arbitrary nonsense that doesn't tie to any timeline and ends up in the middle across seasons for absolutely zero reason.

You are doing dumb things while actual NFL teams make real moves based on upon how they view these players that they drafted and developed.
Dak and Goff have both played 69 games. Wentz 68.
2 of those 3 guys have been benched in the last calendar year while the other guy led the league in passing yards per game

They have advanced metrics which are far better than QB and AYA. CPOE and EPA.
Combine CPOE and EPA for a composite QB efficiency score....

IF you use 2018 it drags Dak down a solid bit and he ranks only 18th. 2018-2020
The very poor end of 2018 and Pre-Amari 2019 show up there....

BUT in that ranking Goff comes in at 25th and Wentz 34th.

Remove 2018 and focus on the last two seasons. 2019-2020
Dak is 10th, Goff 23rd and Wentz 33rd.
In that ranking the guy right above and below Dak, Brees and Rivers just retired.

So Dallas is staring at the 9th most efficient NFL QB entering 2021 over the past 24 months.
Mahomes is 2nd and got 45AAV, Watson is 5th and got 40M last off-season to set the current market.

Like I said earlier

I thought 5 years was a bit too far back and 1 year was not enough, so I picked 3 years of data.

If someone wants to slice the data some other way, that's fine.
I'm never argued this was the definitive thesis on each player....good grief....it's just raw data.

But in this thread, I used 48 games--which is 3 full seasons of data.

It would be interesting to see the data around this subject prior to Wentz and Goffs new contracts.

You know, if you feel like DFWs efforts were so poor, why didn't you get up off your duff and put something together? Don't be a jackwagon JD.

Come on gang. We got first round picks at WR. That is obviously step one of any solid plan. We just need to rebuild to O line, rebuild the D line, draft some stud LBs, draft some stud safeties and get a time machine for Fat Zeke. If we can do all that Dak will be well worth to 40 million.

Defense is very relevant when it comes to QBs my friend. Plus the dude is a turnover machine. And before we got coop and Lamb they had better wrs so it was said better TEs and a more consistent Oline so it was said. Go look at the last 5 years
No, defense is not that relevant. There's a little argument to be made for some impact, but it's not going to be that great. More turnovers do happen when the surrounding team is not as good. Especially when you're not from the extremely conservative, scared to make throws, side of things. And, no, they were considered way worse at WR long before we got Lamb. Their WRs were all old, mediocre, and the last 2 years (3 really), basically didn't exist as they were on the bench. Yes, they had Ertz, but they were just extremely limited.

Why are we trying to stretch it out to 5 years?

Why only 48 games? Why not since day one when they were first drafted?

Why did you leave out win / loss records? Some of us don't care about Dak's stats because they're not resulting in enough quality wins. They only only look good for Dak and his crusade to score a new contract.

Here you go, win / loss records for the last 3 seasons. Not so impressive, is it?

Wentz - 17-21-1
Goff - 31-16
Dak - 20-17

Lets throw in playoff records while we're on the subject of Dak and his impressive statistical accomplishments:

Dak - 1-3
Wentz - 0-1, he was injured his rookie season and missed the playoffs and super bowl
Goff - 4-2, which includes a loss in the super bowl

Because win / loss is not a QB stat.

It's a team stat.

Stretching 4 to 5 because that's how long they've been they've been QBs right?. Well that's not what media and analysts seem to think at the time only thing we had on them were rb and oline 16 n 17

Not sure what media you looked at. Before Cooper sure, but that was a long time ago.
