He was with us for 3 years and we interviewed him for head coach, a good organisation should have been able to extrapolate what ceiling he could reach down the line. He is now one of the best DEF Co-ordinators in the league. At the very least he should have been promoted to assistant head defensive coordinator or given some other title to keep him from leaving.

We missed badly.

Ya every team should have that crystal ball that will tell them after just a couple years of experience in the NFL what he'll be 14 years later. You're just upset because after having all those years of experience he turned out to be a really good DC. You might not have been able to figure it out by yourself but Bowles got that interview for the head coaching position to fulfill the Rooney rule. To that point he had only been a secondary coach in the NFL and please list all of the head coaches that went from a secondary coach for only about 4-5 years in the NFL straight to head coach. Stop doing a typical knee jerk reaction.

Kind of a perfect storm for Tampa D...they do have a very good front 7...but they faced two OL that were decimated by injuries. Healthy OL's from the Packers or Chiefs and maybe you have different outcomes. Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul feasted on guys like Terence Steele and Brandon Knight.

People nowadays think the Championship Cowboys teams of the 90s were all about Troy, Emmitt and Michael. The triplets certainly played a huge role, but from 92-95 the defense was Top 5 every year.

Build the defense, too much focus on offense. If Jerry had built those teams he would remember defense is necessary throughout the years, but he doesn't and he wasn't the architect of those titles.

That first super bowl vs the Bills was touted as their #1 O vs our #1 D.

The biggest takeaways that I got from this game was that defence still wins championships and you have to be balanced on offense. The Bucs won the Super Bowl because they played elite defence from basically start to finish, and because the Chiefs didn't run the football. Jason Pierre-Paul, Vita Vea, and Lamonte David were in Mahomes' face pretty much the entire time. They took away Tyreek Hill and basically told the Chiefs to try to beat them without Hill. The end result was 9 points. Meanwhile, the Chiefs couldn't stop the run at all, and Brady was able to rip them apart as a result. Morale of the story: play balanced offense and build this defence. If you want to have a chance, make the defence afraid of both the run and pass. On the other side of the ball, play good defence, and you'll typically win. Jerry Jones needs to build this defence this off-season so we can have a chance to compete next season.
BULL****!!!! Did the defense score any points? Hell no !!! Offense scored the points a great offense will beat a great defense any day!!
You have to score more points than your opponent in order to win

All true, but kellen doesnt use a balanced offense, he goes pass crazy. He doesnt know how to use the run game.

You noticed that too, huh? Not only regressed, but borderline retired players.

What makes you think the D will get better? Because I have hope too. The ship is sinking while we're hoping it doesn't. We'll see what they do in the off season. I think Diggs will be solid. Our DEs are solid. Maybe a couple other guys. Then a bunch leaving to free agency. Then the issue of signing Dak. Not going to be a lot of room to improve the D. I think we're in trouble.

The defense was so bad this past season the only way to go is up for starters LOL
Going to a 3/4 defense during this Covid crisis was the stupidest thing anyone could have done. Even if some of our Defensive players are done that move didnt give the team a fighting chance. To top matters off in FA other then Aldon Smith we didnt sign any players that were of the prototype of a 3/4 defense. Mike said that he would build the system to the players strengths but that never happened. It was Messed up from the beginning.
Going back to the 4/3 will automatically make this team better. If the Jones would get their head out of their backside and bring some talent in this defense will make a much better upgrade.
I am Not a Jones hater but some of the decisions that they have made over the years is just so puzzling. Remember the year we "Liked" our receivers? They realized they made a mistake after the fact and traded for Cooper. Not getting a deal done to begin with on Dak has cost this team/ Im sure others can add to the Stupidity they have done. Jerry says "You wouldnt believe the Check amount I would write to win another championship then they turn around and neglect positions of need. I dont want to go into cap hell again but we have all watched while other teams have made some really good deals around the league and have scratched our heads. LOL

All true but if you look a little deeper, this was not KC's full offense. Both starting tackles missed the game, and Mahomes played with a toe that requires surgery. So, sure Tampa has a good defense but some of the result is KC not being healthy. Back in November, the KC offense put up 43 points on this defense.

I didn't even know their two starting tackles were out until after the game. That pretty much explains the jail breaks. I was wondering how the Chiefs seemed to be the Bucs easiest opponent in the playoffs.

Yep, he does make his mistakes. Especially waiting for a contract to expire for quarterback you want to keep. I think it's too late now.

If there was no cap I do believe Jerry would spend the money to stack the team. He's just not good at team building under the salary cap.

True , but did they score, ? Did they get a pick 6, scoop and score , a punt return? They did their job and limited the chief’s to 9 points , albeit Mahomes teammates didn’t help him out, with all the drop passes. I am glad that they lost it killed that dynasty talk and I predicted that they would not win back to back.
Here’s what I always ask people if you have two top defenses and they are locking down the offenses and no one scores who wins? No one it’ becomes a tie! A team wins championships both sides working together but the offense has to score more than the other team to win

No, but they set the Bucs up to do so because of how they were able to stop KC. They were able to get the ball back for Brady without giving up more than 9 points. We need a defence like that. I seriously hope you don't think the Cowboys defence was sufficiently good enough.
