Am I the only one who thinks that making a hype video for the upcoming season featuring a player who’s not under contract for that season would’ve also been stupid?

Yep.. they could have been trying to avoid ending up with significant egg on face if Dak refuses to sign. The Cowboys only control 50% of that equation.

When do the next season's hype videos normally come out? Right after the Super Bowl?
Remember when NFL Films made half-hour shows that reviewed every team's season? No matter if was the champion on down to the league's doormat(s) - each had a positive spin. They would highlight veterans that had banner years or won awards, along with outstanding rookies. The head coaches would get a mention. The documentaries would have the action background music. They were broadcast locally on the station that carried that franchise games.
Has those productions stopped?

The Dallas Cowboys released a hype video for the 2021 season Monday, and quarterback Dak Prescott who heads into the offseason as a free agent was conspicuously absent...

Who cares about this? He is not that important. He is not such a big deal. Hell, if you Dak fans are upset that he is not on a stupid video and you crave to see him, turn on the TV and go buy a mattress! smh

This wasn't an oversight.
Do you HONESTLY think the media department develops a video and doesn't show it to Jerry (socks and jocks) Jones or Stephen Jones first before it's released?
I've worked for a major corporation in its public relations department. Trust me. NOTHING goes out to the public unless the CEO and president or, in this case, owner sees it.
Anyone who thinks otherwise wouldn't be in the PR business for long, especially if it involves potential controversy.

Don't for one second think that the control freaks in the FO didn't have a final say on that video.

They may come out later and say they never approved it, don't believe it.

Wow. What a major marketing screw up the Cowboys front office just committed.
Somebody could be fired for this. I am surprised Derek took the hit for it. I am interested to hear what they say on Cowboys Break about this tomorrow. Then again the Cowboys really are not in the news anymore and the national media needs something to talk about.

You guys are always great for a good laugh. "Hot damnit, I've worked for a major corporation in its public relations department. Trust me. NOTHING goes out to the public unless the CEO and president or, in this case, owner sees it. Hot damnit!! I'm a man, I'm 40!"

Its too early for a hype video....theres 7 more months of offseason and who even knows if the people in the video will be in it by the time the season rolls around

It's clear as day they were trying to send some kind of message... aka if you don't accept this deal we are trying to give you, you won't be here. Unfortunately, this video didn't get the reaction they were expecting and they are getting roasted in the media, so all of a sudden it was a 'mistake'...

How do you mistakenly forget to include the star of your team in a marketing video? This is just further evidence that our FO doesn't get it. They could have signed Dak for a much cheaper deal a couple of years earlier. Now that Dak is essentially in the driver's seat, they want to send subliminal shots to him, which will only make the negotiations MORE difficult. Where as Dak may have accepted a bit less or even been more compliant when it comes to finding a trade partner if he was to be traded, the relationship could very well have turned antagonistic and Dak will make it difficult for the cowboys to get any compensation by refusing to sign the franchise tag.

Good, if he refuses, hit the bricks, he got lucky to begin with because he did not have to compete for this job, the Red Headed genius gave it to him. Plus, after his rookie season, he actually stated to regress when he was not really that good to begin with except in the 4th qtr after the game was already lost.

Totally agree, the Jones are micro managers, they approve everything the marketing department puts out, heck Jerry's daughter runs the marketing department.

Having said that, i don't really give a crap...lol

Some of us have insight that others do not have. It's called PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE. I can't help it if you don't have it. :)

This wasn't a mistake. You don't run a multi-million dollar corporation, release information to the public and not include the owner, ESPECIALLY when the owner is as hands-on as Jerry Jones is. Everything gets run through the owner, CEO, president, ESPECIALLY information that goes to out to the public and can reflect negatively on the company.

Uh, no. People get fired for that. That's the one thing a PR person DOES NOT FORGET!!!!

To believe that Jerry Jones or Stephen Jones was not shown a hype video about the Dallas Cowboys, and the media department simply released it without showing the owners?

Yeah. And I have beach front property on the moon I'd like to show you.

You know nothing about my professional experience. You may know how things worked at the company where you were in public relations but have absolutely no idea how the Cowboys and in particular Jerry Jones handle these promotional videos off at all. So don’t act like you do.

Some say it’s the best hype video in years.
I actually haven't seen it yet.
You have? What did you think?

I saw a few here saying it looked amateur.

I'll probably check it out now.
