He needs what everyone else got. Baker Mayfield salary won't be reduced because he's in a bunch of commercials.

Same comment applies to Mayfield, or any other player in their position.

But as an aside, Mayfield plays for the Browns, Dak for the Dallas Cowboys. Dak's exposure is much more lucrative than Mayfields...

If Dak is able to show he has healed and is able to make football moves on it without any serious setbacks or problems, Jerry and Stephen would then be likely to give Dak a longterm contract probably somewhere between $35 - $37.5 mil / season. It would work for both parties

Sorry bro, but Watson is getting $40M a year. You yourself said Watson is not better than Dak. Dak's a nice guy but in business you don't leave that amount of money on the table. If you get $37M on the franchise tag, why in the hell would you sign for less than that for your AAV? And please don't mention the endorsement, no state taxes, yadda, yadda nonsense. That's not Todd France's concern because it's a separate thing altogether therefore neither he or the players ever bring that into the discussion. That's more fan hope-posting for wanting to see a player get less.

Who cares? His endorsement money was a nice bonus considering he was a 4th round QB while Wentz and Goff were paid nicely as first rounders. Separate revenue streams. Everyone here would be that way if it were them but when someone else is raking it in it's a problem.

"If the Cowboys can’t work out a long-term deal with their quarterback by March 9, they are expected to use the $37.7 million franchise tag on him.

That would buy the Cowboys four months to get a long-term agreement with Prescott or risk his potential departure in 2022."

I don't have much doubt they will tag him, because of the injury. Dak's just now getting to the point where he can recover from the injury, and most expectations were that it would be April before he can do any real work, so the Cowboys will be able to take the 4 months to see how the ankle healing goes...

Pay 37 million to see how his ankle heels?
Man, you can't make this stuff up!!!!

Trading Dak for Watson makes no sense for 2 reasons:

* Watson is not better than Dak. Watson is very good but slightly lesser than Dak, statistically.
* Cowboys would have to pick up Watson's current contract. What is Watson getting paid right now? $40 mil/season? How is that better than keeping Dak?

This trade proposal makes no sense and would only hurt the Cowboys, not help them.

We know you're just a troll, but can't you come up with something better than just flat our lying to an absurd degree?

I think Dak already knows he is in the drivers seat and has been for some time. Jerry can offer whatever he wants, Dak still has to agree to it. And that's the thing. Dak is not agreeing and we do not know exactly why. All we have are rumors.

The length of contract, we were told, was the holdup last season. But does anyone really believe if Jerry offered Dak $35 million for 5 years and Dak said he do only 4 years they could not have worked that out? Or if Dak asked for $40 million Jerry would not have budged a little from $35 million to get the deal done?

I find the whole thing puzzling. But, when a deal does not get done with Jerry, I think we have to start with the player and his agent. Jerry has never been shy about overpaying his players. He overpaid Romo without batting an eye. Something we do not know is keeping the two sides from an agreement. Maybe the Joneses are not really convinced Dak is the guy? But then why not trade him last year?

I said last year Dak was looking at about $68 million guaranteed if he went the franchise route for 2 years. So Jerry had to offer him more than $68 million guaranteed. But now Dak is looking at $37 million this year and an opportunity to go to the highest bidder or the team of his choice next year, or Jerry has to pay him $60 something million on top of the $37 million this year. I think this is what Dak wants, or his agent has convinced him is best for him. He wants free agency to get the best deal and maybe even offer Jerry a chance to match it.

Jerry does not want to get into a bidding war for Dak, or any player. So if Dak holds out for a franchise tag I think Jerry knows it's over at that point. The next option is let Dak negotiate with other teams willing to make a trade.

I have read a lot of opinions on Dak trade value. I think the Cowboys can ask for a lot for Dak, franchise tag or not. I am certain they can get 2 first round picks for him. Then they can use those picks to select a QB and build the defense.

It is not a matter of what they want or what I want. It is what Dak wants. But if they franchise him and do not trade him they risk losing him in 2022 and getting nothing in return.

I think Kirk is under rated. He would not gotten that much in Todays market, he got lucky that he FA when his only only real FA rival was Sam Bradford. Also they talk like this year and last year was like any other year. Teams ar eless likely to throw money around until they have a clue a on what the cap ramifications are on most scenarios.

You think Dak would have less commercials if he played for a different team? Because being in Cleveland hasn't stopped Mayfield.

Maybe it's the area I live in but I've seen Dak in far more commercials than Baker...

I don't know how much merit there is to this, but that's really interesting.

A Watson for Wilson makes the most sense. But I don't know if Wilson will go to that mess in Houston.
And I don't know if the Raiders have the firepower for a deal. They would need to give up a lot more than David Carr.

As for the Cowboys? Dak would have to sign his tag or agree to a deal before they could do anything. I like Dak a lot. But a Russell Wilson deal is awfully tempting........

“Slightly lesser” in what regard statistically?

LOL. SEA isn’t just doing a swap of QBs.
DAL would need to give up a lot more too and dump money to accommodate Wilson’s contract. It’s large.

I'll say this....Dak has never quarterbacked a team to 4-12.......

Don't worry.....Taylor Heinicke will be coming in a few years.....and he will be exactly what this franchise deserves.

Please note " Exclusive franchise players cannot negotiate with other teams. The player's team has all the negotiating rights to the exclusive player."

They can trade Dak under the tag....
How many teams would be willing to trade for Dak under his circumstances and what would they offer?
In the end, it's a matter of reality and most of you Dak lovers have lost touch with it.
No team would offer anything substantial to pick up a tag at 37 million.
Yes yes yes, it hurts but the truth usually does.
