Are we going to be able to build a super bowl contender w/ Jayon and LVE?

Watching him during the year. Early on, I noticed a slight hitch in his gait. It got bigger. He got slower. I watched him in slo mo trying to break down and cut, and he just couldn't plant sometimes. Sometimes it was literal drop foot, where his toe would catch on the turf. Started to notice that he would be blown back at time like 10 yards when he needed to dig and anchor.

It would be nice to see some examples of what you're talking about. A quick review of this video didn't show any issues. Granted, it's a "highlight" video (so it's pretty short), but I'm seeing him plant and cut off that foot without issue. He even gets a little bit of a push on a rush (even though the bull rush has never been a strength). As far as getting blown up, that happens in football to guys without drop foot (see Tyrone Crawford).

Watch Jaylon get completely stonewalled by the first heavy bag of the Gridiron Gauntlet Pro Bowl 2020 - You actually have to push 3 bags and he couldn't push one. Goto 43 seconds. Once you see when he's visible, rewind and put it to highest resolution and slowest speed you've got. He's tip tapping his left leg instead of driving. The foot dropped and dragged twice. Jaylon ain't right.

In the scramble to make up for the lost time, it looks like he took a bad angle (wide to his left) and had to start over without any momentum. Cam Heyward got a running start and outweighs Jaylon by about 50 lbs or so. Also looks like he drags his right foot as the camera is moving away. Check 2:19 and 3:21 of the video I linked above. You'd think if it were a problem he'd show it in those examples.

Serious question. Logically, I'd say we almost have to dump both and start over at the LB position before we can build a super bowl D. Can those guys be a part of a top 5 D? Serious doubts here.

No, I've been watching the Cowboys for about 48 years and Jaylon is my most disliked player of all times. He's everything that's bad about the Cowboys, celebrating little things, getting a new contract because the story is good not because the play is good, also getting a new contract because the Joneses want to declare victory on taking a chance on him in the the draft, how do they validate the pick by giving him a new contract. This guy hardly makes plays at the los and that drop foot is a problem, that foot cause him to guess and he runs from contact so much so that he runs himself out of the play. If it weren't for the Joneses ego he'd be cut this year.

LVE no, a linebacker can't play with neck injury issues, we need 2 new lbers.

I could include sacks, PDs, QB hits, and TDs scored.

but Tackles are easier. He has the most.

by a lot.
And you still haven't figured it out.
A MLB will have a ton of tackles just because of the position. Doesn't necessarily mean anything.

In this case, it's blatantly obvious that Jaylon is not good.

The guy with the most tackles in the league didn't make the Pro Bowl either. Funny, that. It's almost as if gross tackles aren't an accurate measure of the quality of a defensive player.

I guess you could use tackles to compare MLB to MLB somewhat, but even then scheme and talent around him can inflate tackle numbers.

Asking can we build a Super Bowl contender with Jaylon and LVE is like asking can we keep the Titanic afloat by arranging the deck chairs right-side up.

The Cowboys problems are way beyond Jaylon and LVE, who are merely upside-down deck chairs shifting in the direction of a sinking ship. There's a structural fracture in the boat that no amount of arranging unfixed furniture is going to solve.

If 25 years of futility hasn't convinced you, nothing will. We'll be back in the same situation next post-season, hoping that if we get a few more talented players, we'll FINALLY make a run for the Super Bowl.

No physical breakdowns in a highlite video? Who woulda guessed?

Jaylon couldn't push the *first* bag of what should have been *three* *cumulative* bags.

So you believe the foot works sometimes and not others? There's multiple shots of him planting and switching directions on the foot in question. I'm just asking for an example of what you're talking about.

He's not a 300 lb lineman and he didn't have a running start. Is this your only evidence?

Like most any physical limitation, sometimes it's stressed by circumstances, and sometimes not. Sometimes it fails against the stress, and sometimes not.

Jaylon couldn't push the *lightest* of 3 bags he was supposed to push *cumulatively*, while the DT was pushing 2 and mad no problem getting the 3rd moving.

Does it console you to think that Jaylon's legs work fine, but he's too stupid to get a running start?

I've made comments and posts about this through 2019. Wish we had a search function here.

Console me? I just gave my observation. The fact is he didn't get a running start on it. My assumption is he gave up when he saw the lead was insurmountable.

I know. You can search this site through Google. Just put "site:cowboyszone.com" followed by a keyword.

But again, I'm asking for in game evidence backing up what you're saying. I didn't see a guy battling physical limitations this year. I saw a guy lost in a system he wasn't familiar with. He's avoided contact since his time at Notre Dame, so that's always been a part of his game. I want to see that hitch in his giddy up you keep referring to.

Jaylon needs a big DT in front of him to keep the oline off of him so he can run side line to side line and make plays. Thats just the type of linebacker he is. Unfortunately we don't have that

They both need to go. Cowboys should definitely be looking to draft a LBs and find a FA.
