But Carolina didn't fix their defense with no cap space, that's what I am trying to tell you. It doesn't help to say, "Go look at Carolina" when they didn't sign a QB to a record deal and then fix their Defense. They got rid of their record QB deal and then fixed the D. So I ask again, who exactly does Dallas do that with an Offensive minded HC and a record deal at QB?

I was telling you to look at their 2020 Draft picks. That’s all I said.

Im not saying anything about their offense, HC or any of that. You simply asked how to solve the DEFENSIVE issues lol. I said Carolina Improved though the draft. You then went on about the offense, overhaul, etc.

It’s cool though man. Agree to disagree upon this topic. I know we have better things to do than argue over Carolina lol

Do the Dak haters saying "tag and trade Dak" realize they're counterdicting their own agenda?

If Dak is too costly and mediocre for the Cowboys, why would another team give us a ransom for an average quarterback while paying him what you feel the Cowboys should not?

The answer: because Dak is not an average QB. He's a franchise QB; and has played like one since midway through the 2018 season. The Cowboys aren't letting him go. If they do, they'll regret it unless they get incredibly lucky.

What I am saying, or the point I'm making is that you can't just build through the Draft and get there. You still have to sign guys, keep good players and on top of that, you need a staff that can find good players on the Defensive Side of the ball. That's why I make the point of Matt Rhule. He's a Defensive guy. We don't have that guy IMO. That makes it a lot tougher to me.

They may not. What would happen is that he would either realize that there is no better deal out there or he would find the deal he and France want and we would get draft capitol. Either way, problem solved.

But is the problem really solved? The odds of finding a QB as good as Dak again are maybe 50-50 at best. The Cowboys know what they have in Prescott and they can win with him. I'm not saying Dak is elite; but he's at least top 10-12. Keep Dak, shore up the defense at least marginally, and hope for a healthier offensive line and the Cowboys can realistically double their 2020 win total.

This will be Christmas Day. Some will be happy with what they got while others will be upset.

I'd rather let Dak walk and try to recapture the 2016 -2019 era again instead of just locking down what we have seen the last 2 seasons and thinking they can turn that into a winner.

All we will be now is the fighting Dak Prescotts. He should be good for your fantasy teams. Unfortunately our real life team will be stuck in mediocrity. The 1 thing we have going for us is our division sucks though so we may sneak a wildcard win in here and there.

History is really repeating itself like it did with Romo.
Yes. Finding a good QB is easy. And or that position isn’t that important anyway.

Good call man.

Resolution by Thursday would be cool.
At this point this is exactly how I feel. I can see some positives from signing him and I can see positives from not signing him. Getting it over with one way or another is the best thing overall. Just make a decision and move forward, please end this!!!!

It's easier than ever.

We just found one in the 4th round and replaced him with a QB that could get similar results in FA when he went down.

It's hard to not be a QB in the NFL now days who doesn't throw 25-30 TD's... 10-15 picks.. 63% completion. Those types are everywhere. The Dak types.

The difference is when you take a Dak type like Tannehill move him from to Miami to Tennessee then all of a sudden he is a great QB.

Most of these QB's are only as good as their situation.

IM calling BS on this false hope for Dak lovers. Only a fool pays Dak without knowing how he has recovered.
so who is going to ask Dak to come show us his ankle? or you think the team doctors, trainers et. al have access to all his medical record, and perhaps, there is a slight, tiny little chance they may know more than me and you...just a tiny itsy bitsy little chance....

Yeah.. On a great team.. Unfortunately he is more like Joe Flacco then he is Peyton Manning or Tom Brady and he needs to be carried there and it's hard to get enough pieces when guys like Joe Flacco or Dak get paid.

If you didn't notice.. We were a watermelon kick from 0-4 to start this season and have 1 wildcard win under our belt with him having the best team friendly contract in football over that period.

we were also a few small plays from being 3-1. its all relative.

I don't know but ask yourself, is the problem really solved if we sign him? I mean, if you sign him and pay more then you can afford, then the writing is on the wall. You will eventually let key players walk. Are the odds worse if we have Dak and nobody else? At least if you go this way, you are sure of coming out with a positive. If you can sign Dak reasonably, then you solve the QB problem and can afford to put pieces around him. If he leaves, you get something for Dak and that helps you get a QB with a little luck.

If you wait and do neither, Dak walks next season and you get nothing but a compensation pick. Maybe a third if you are lucky.

I agree 100 percent. The problem for me is the QB position is the hardest to fill and once you get one you keep him. The idea of re-signing Andy Dalton or drafting the next Sam Darnold or Mitch Trubisky worries me. Unless some team is willing to give up a king's ransom for Dak I want Dallas to keep him. I understand the outrage if they overpay; but one could argue every QB in the league is overpaid. And I'm sure the Cowboys can come up with a deal that helps them cap-wise and maybe gives them an "out" after a couple years, especially coming off the injury.

Maybe.. But.. Who cares?

The main concern for me is the lack of playoff success and the elite guys may not win it but a lot of them have their trophy and consistently get there.

Daks got a whole wild card win in 5 years and he's gonna get paid like he's delivered us a trophy and that he is elite.

PArticipating in this market is just stupid but we're a stupid team so we'll do it.
