It’s going to be a hilarious day on this forum when Dak signs. Lol
The room will be the same as the day he didn't get signed last year. ONLY the other side of the boat will be crying and vomiting all over the room.

Haha. I felt fantastic last year although it was more relief at thinking the team has some sort of chance going forward. Flip side of the coin is if Prescott signs then the team is absolutely going down the toilet so at least any pressure and hope will have gone so game days will just be a laugh.

No it's not...

Dak Haters will flip........like the backsliders whom left Tom Landry's church
We won't flip. We don't care anymore.

And we don't hate Dak. We just know emptying the coffers for him will spend the end of the Cowboys for the foreseeable future.

Jerry know you will scarf up jerseys, so he doesn't care one way or the other.

Just waiting for this to end, one way or the other.

The Cowboys could have gotten this done at anytime since 2016 when he clearly outperformed his draft status and now both they and the fans are paying for it. I want to look forward to the draft but the Prescott situation will loom over everything until July 15; count on it.

Here's a news flash for you. League rules, a team can't even try to extend a player on a rookie contract until AFTER his 3rd season which was 2018. So no the Cowboys couldn't have done anything about it back in 2016 his rookie year.

Even if they apply the tag it doesn't end March 9th. They can play the negotiation game until July 15th, again. What they do on draft day, if he's still just tagged, should be telling.

Obviously if he plays on the tag in 2021 it's bye-bye in 2022.

I did not need Archer to tell me this. It is pretty much known to all of us as common sense.

Genuine question...how is it bye bye in 2022?

I don't know if you're just talking about the tweet or the article.....unless I missed some things he points there's been discussions....Seems like new information.

I'll be so happy when this is over, for better or for worse. It's been a looming distraction for years.

Distraction for who? Were you losing any sleep over this issue? Would Dak have played elite if only he wasn’t distracted with contract worries?

Nothing but media chatter for the exploding talking heads exploding fans’ heads.

They did this last year as well. The tag period started. And waited until the last day to issue the tag officially.
Tag period starts tomorrow, and they have until the 9th.
Same thing will happen if no contract is worked out.

So I was joking that Archer acts as of this is groundbreaking news. :laugh:but he has to say it, for those that do not know or keeps up with it.

Probably because the Cowboys lose any leverage they might have had in FA negotiations, piss off Dak, and would definitely not pay the next level of the franchise tag.

I agree. If they don't get a deal done this year he's gone ala Kirk Cousins in Washington.

Thanks Todd for your info. Like we all didn’t know they’ve discussed an extension by now.

The FO has certainly hosed this up to put it nicely. I'm 50-50 on it getting done by March 9th.

You sincerely don't think this is a team and organizational distraction?

The Cowboys are coming off a 6-10 season with a brand new coaching staff and still don't have a starting caliber QB under contract.
