We know Gallimore is worth developing and we know Hill might not be as bad as originally thought. That's about all. Let's see what Dan Quinn can do with these guys, but getting somebody else in here is a must.

When was the last time we had too many good DT's? It's not been an issue in a very long time so if there is a guy who can come in and start at DT then you take him. Attrition will take care of itself or you cut/ trade the dead weight.

I'd have no issue with him...10 seems a bit early but I really would have no issue. To me you an never have too many D or O linemen. I'd draft them every single year. Hill and Gallimore surely wouldn't stop me from addressing it. Would much rather have him than Pitts for sure.

I am all in on Gallimore and feel he can improve greatly his 2nd year, Hill not so much but willing to give him another shot before i cut bait. But they do need to draft another DT, in the 2nd round if there is one worthy. Or pick one up on FA. The wild card is McCoy, if he can stay healthy, that would be awesome.

Should the presence of Neville Gallimore and Trysten Hill impact the Dallas Cowboys decisions?
We know defensive tackles take time to develop. They aren’t like linebackers and running backs that you can just plug and play as rookies. Even elite prospects picked in the top of the first round struggle making much of an impact as rookies, and often take 1-3 years to really establish themselves as assets.

After half his rookie contract, Hill has at best looked like a developmental rookie, with very limited play time in two years who will be coming back from knee injury. Gallimore already has more career snaps. Gallimore is healthy, looked better, but he's not a quality starter at this point.

I hope we get a 3T high to start, a run stuffing 1T, and let Gallimore take the pass rush snaps at 1T. Hill is pure rotation for the pass rush behind Gallimore and starting 3T. And that's generous. Good chance he doesn't get many snaps if we get McCoy back cheap.

Waste a couple of years of your rookie contract, get injured, and your chance to be a developmental guy passew you by. We should be developing guys with more promise and more future here, not developing a guy for the rest of the league.

Jerry has to decide whether or not to extend Hill before next season. If he doesn't, and Hill breaks out, he's gone after next season. Even if he doesn't break but and is good enough to want to keep, it's still much harder to sign him.

Gallimore and Hill are both due to prove their skills, in terms of plugging the run reliably. Will they be able to do so acceptably, well before the coming season commences? That seems to be a lingering question, yet to be determined. Here's hoping they'll both be working feverishly toward fulfilling that goal, while we ponder their chances. It'd be great if they could save this team the trouble of filling that void by the time TC commences.

Hill has played 333 snaps in his career and has 10 solo tackles, 5 QB hits, 2 tackles for loss, and 0 sacks.

He's really coming on. At the rate he's going, by the end of his rookie contract he will have roughly equalled Taco Charlton's rookie year stats. Well, maybe if he actually gets his first sack. Regardless, he'll be wanting Aaron Donald money by then for sure.

"After ranking at or near the bottom of the NFL in both interior pressure rate and run-stopping, it’s become clear the Dallas Cowboys need to improve their interior defensive line this offseason."

It's become clear to everyone but the front office.

The only impact this makes on my decisions is my decision to run to the bathroom BEFORE I get skid marks in my drawers.

If we could somehow get a disrupter at that position then it could be a quick fix for our defense.

For some reason the Cowboys have never put a premium on it. Maybe it's because those guys are hard to find.

Outside of La Roi Glover, Ratliff, and Hatcher for a year or 2 we haven't had a guy there that can cause chaos.
.....I miss David Irving...

I like Hill and Gallimore I just want to shore up the defensive line with cheap young players.

I think Gallimore and Hill have a role in the rotation but Dallas needs a DT who can create havoc up the middle. Right now it tends to be a stalemate is viewed as a win up front. Cowboys need to find that DT who can create pressure up the middle and still be able to hold his own in stopping the run.

I respect your thoughts.. and why I ask..
How would you compare Leon Lett to Aaron Donald?

So, that means we need another TE, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys drafted a DB in round one and a DT in the 2nd round. Barfield, at DT, would be nice but we'd likely have to move up into the very early 2nd round to get him, if he were to be available by then. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a MLB were destined to be taken in the 1st or 2nd round, either. Much depends upon the talent available at those points, of course.
