I cut the dead weight off the team . Tyrone Crawford, Cameron Erving,Noah Brown,etc.. If they are free agents, let them walk.

I talk to the Jets at #2 who are interested in Deshaun Watson but Texans want 3 1st rounders. I say we give Dak for 2 1st rounders 2nd & 23rd and. Darnold. Then I propose to give them Ezekiel Elliott & DeMarcus Lawrence for 2021 2nd round pick & 3rd round

So now I have 2,10,23 in the 1st round ,picks 34 & 44 in the 2nd round.and 3 picks in the 3rd round. 2 in the 4th,5th,2 in 6th,7th

I'm wheeling dealing throughout the draft trading down for all the draft picks I can get.

I have freed up cap space for new players on rookie contracts.

I hope to get atleast 20 to 25 fresh players on this roster .

Noah Brown is your 5th WR and is excellent on ST's. Erving is the swing tackle. Both are cheap. Why do you consider them dead weight, and what good would letting them go do?

I see you, you rascal, another Dirty Dozen draft! :muttley:

But one question (not saying I agree with your scenario) - you're going with a total re-build? How long do you think it will take to get back to SB contender in that case?

I don't know how to do this without knowing what the cap is going to be but...

1: Restructure Amari, DLaw, Tyron, Martin, La'el - ~$45m extra space
2: Post June-1 cut Jaylon - $7m space
3: Extend Dak - 4x$40
4: Sign Marcus Maye - 4x$11
5: Sign Sheldon Rankins - 2x$5
6: Sign Avery Williamson - 2x$8

Not bad.

Are you sure Rankins is that lightly regarded?

I would rather not take the keys but would gladly come to the sight to say how the person who is in charge now is a clown and should be fired for the moves they made. lol

Did Rankins get cut? I'm not seeing anything. He just restructured, you sure he's available?

Restructuring is absolutely necessary, but have to be careful not to kick too many cans too far down the road....

From a Saints article before their last game (the playoff loss):
"According to ESPN’s Roster Management System, they have more than $276 million in salary-cap commitments heading into 2021 -- the highest total in the NFL -- with 43 players on the books."

At this point I'm imaging just about everybody on the Saints is available, with maybe a few players like Kamara the exception....

I also think it could be done, but would take some very tough decisions. We don't have a GM capable of that.

Yes I think we've seen JJ long enough to know he's extremely adverse to having the team drop off to 4-12 or 3-13 level, even if the ultimate goal is to get back to SB level, he'd rather stick with enough of a present team to go 8-8 for a couple of years and try to "muddle through" until his master plan returns the team to 1992 status...

I'd throw my ticket in the hat of the revolving QB carousel.

If one is still available in the draft at 10 that graded out first, I'd take him.

If not I'd consider a trade/draft package for Watson.
I'd also ask Denver about Locke and Miami about Tua as well.

Secondly, I don't like all the injury uncertainty regarding both OTs.

So if making such an investment on a QB then that investment must be protected.
On the current roster the only viable lineman capable of performing at or near a Tyron level at LT would probably be Martin. So if that were an actual option the Cowboys could possibly be okay but still be relying on uncertainty at RT.

Those early reports of no cartilage on Collins surgery last year was troubling as well but yet to be officially confirmed.

Steele and Knight are spot starters at best at either tackle imho.

And if ever a season showed how important starting tackles were to team success it was this past one.

Once Rodgers lost Bakhtiari and Mahommes lost Fisher and friends, the starting Tampa d linemen dominated the Oline fronts and determined those games.

I mean, no one forgets the Chaz Green experiment right?
This year, Washington and even Giant's d linemen in the second game "dominated" Dallas backups.

So while everyone else is screaming defense I thought I'd offer up a lil something different.

Just my opinion.

You think Tyron still has trade value? Why?

Gilmore is Belly's pet. You think he's ready to dump him? And if he is, to dump him for peanuts? Crazy stuff!!!!

What helps Tyron Smith is his cap hit. Its low have you seen the prices of guys close to his caliber?

S. Gilmore is currently trying being offered for a 2nd. No one is bitting. A 3rd and future 4th would work

1. Trade Jaylon Smith for a 5th round conditional draft pick
2. Tag and Trade Dak for a 1st round pick
3. Parlay the 10th pick into multiple picks.
4. Sign Sam Darnold for a 1 year audition
5. Write myself a fat check before Jerry got back.

Right, but the only way we get rid of Tyron and his sweet contract is if he's not healthy. In which case, why would anyone want him?

1) Fire Stephen Jones.
2) Tell Prescott's agent we've decided to try something new and seek talent at QB.
3) Contact the Eagles and remind them that no trades are official yet. We will offer more than the Colts. A lot more.
4) Release Jaylon Smith. We don't need that circus crap.
5) Spend FA dollars on the best DT and S you can find. Available free agents or through trade.
3 out of 5 ain't bad. Better than I would have guessed for you.
