This is my point though. What does that 3-5 million get you? How does 37 million allow you to fix your defense but 40 doesn’t?
Do you really believe, Mike wants to go another season Without Prescott. After all he might be the first head coach ever to win a Super Bowl with the second team
What I’m asking is what do you think you can get in those savings to fix this defense?its not just 37 to 40, its 37 to 42 or 43 based on what im seeing....
37 right now is not a "deal" but if its a 37 AAV, in 3 years based on the salary cap increases that will be a great deal for another 2-3 years which is why dallas wants a longer contract and dak wants a shorter

I get what you are asking, and my point is you can't just think about it in terms of helping in 2021, you have to think about it over the next 5 years of the contract and what will happen each year. If the AAV ends up being in the 37MM range and the salary cap keeps jumping 10% each year, you will see qb salaries start to get into the mid to high 40s (45-47MM) at which time you are talking about another 10MM that you can pump into other parts of the team, in addition to whatever they move around with the way the contract is structured.
This is the whole reason the cowboys want a longer contract and why dak wants a shorter one....so that they can have more money in the outyears.
If we had 10MM more to spend, that is a nothing to sneeze at, assume the salary cap is 200MM, that is an additional 5% that they could reallocate.
This can't just be about 2021, it has to be about the next half decade
This is my point though. What does that 3-5 million get you? How does 37 million allow you to fix your defense but 40 doesn’t?
Well if we are thinking past 2021....the salary cap will be even HIGHER in 2022 and beyond. At least that's the belief. If we are thinking long term we have to also factor in the salary cap is going to change and be higher.
I’d like to think when there’s a franchise quarterback involved.....you gotta push a little bit. I just don’t get any of this I’ve rarely seen a team play hardball with a franchise quarterback...and if you don’t feel he’s one why are you trying.m to give him so much money?Where is the cutoff though. Throw another 3 million in so Dak doesn't feel disrespected, where does it end? Does it make him play better?
Follow this trend with enough players, and it will make a big difference.
On the bright side though, at least players will be glad to come here knowing Jerry will just throw an extra 10-15 percent at them so they will stay happy until the next contract.
The time to be cheap was with Zeke, Lawrence and Jaylon...I just don’t see how you can overpay everyone and then when it comes to Dak they want to be concerned about the cap.agreed, and i am factoring that into what i posted (go reread). The bottom line is that the cheaper we can sign dak for long term and keep the AAV below where the market is, the more we will be able to spend on other players as the cap increases.
If we go 40MM plus to start, its going to be at least 3 years before that is a good deal and probably wont be till year 4-5.
We aren't sniffing another SB as long as Jerry is breathing. Now, calm down...I am not saying I want Jerry to die. I am not. Just stating a fact.
There's only one coach to win NFL championships with two different teams. And that is ..... Weeb Ewbank. And technically the second was with an AFL team.
Can we consider Tom Brady as a coach? Asking for a friend.

I had no choice. I was born a fan. I love the Star. That will never change. I call it being real versus being negative. Do you have confidence in Jerry's leadership? Like I said earlier, I have 20+ years of material that shows that Jerry can't handle it but there is potential for success after Jerry's gone. Then why are you a fan, why are you on here other than to be a negative Nancy.
I didn’t agree with the zeke contract and I am focused on the dak number and the implications a very high contract would have downstream.
I have laid out the points including the cap implications and reallocation of funds, you just don’t like my answer so now you are Bringing other things in that I have not discussed nor do I wish to address in this dialogue.
dak at 35 to 37 aav is good, 40 plus is not
