One of the unique nicknames in sports history.
As a teenager growing up in San Antonio's East Side, "Too Tall" was one of the most popular Cowboys during the '70s heydays. My father didn't like but understood the move into boxing; he said Jones saw the fight purses were escalating with the great heavyweights cashing in back then. (Tex should have sweetened his salary.)
And don't forget -- Ed Lee Jones was a player for one of the traditional HBCU football powerhouses in the mid-to-latter 20th century - the Tennessee State Tigers.
A very happy 70th birthday shoutout to the Cowboys No. 72 DE great!!!

How the Cowboys got him #1 in 1974 and then Randy White and Hollywood in the first round in 75 is beyond me, kudos to a great front office, reloaded the Cowboys in those 2 drafts.

Happy birthday big guy!
