In all honesty, as long as Smith is not asking for the moon - I'd sign Smith.
I think with Gregory looking like he is working back into playing stamina and weight. The combination of those 2 and cheaper price is the better option.

Aldon Smith or Von Miller???

With Von being possibly let go by the Broncos, do you pursue him or Aldon?

How familiar. Fans clamoring for over the hill players with big names. Blimey, foolish mateys, we can aspire for better players who can play 5 years or longer.

“Clamoring”? Lol! I know that VM grew up a huge Cowboys fan and being from Texas, the possibility of him checking out Dallas would be where arrows would point. Aldon was serviceable and if not expensive is also a possibility. But to say clamoring is just dramatizing things here, BIG TIME.

On the first play of his first game in his NFL career, Von Miller laid a hit & caused a fumble.

Enough said.

The status of Miller's injury that derailed his 2020 season, as well as the price tag for each, would have to be considerations. If everyone was healthy, and money wasn't an issue, I would lean toward Miller, but that would be dependent on the Cowboys being willing to play more of a true 3-4 defense because Miller is not a play on the line with his hand in the dirt kind of guy.

if forced to choose...von miller.
but i want both.
i want ALL the talent.
Well hell, lets get Aaron Donald too. I know he's not a free agent, but if we are all gonna get our druthers, why not dream big?

Gregory is a great rotation guy, and would be tough to fully trust him on that side. Miller is a beast but with his sitch and injury and salary is he worth it? And Aldon ain’t a spring chicken but was good on other side of tank. But where will his salary be? Good feedback so far, y’all!

I am not sure what you mean by rotation guy, but Gregory will be the starter and he will be on the field as much as they can get him out there assuming he doesn't fall of the wagon. The guys was the most disruptive guy on that defense when he played last year.

The problem is after him there is nothing else, unless you want Dorance Armstrong to be the backup - which I don't think is good enough. If they can sign Smith for a decent price they would be wise to do it.

Anae is a rotation guy, but he couldn't crack the lineup last year so we have no idea if he is a piece of the puzzle yet.

He is great at pass rush, but light for the run. If you put 100% into Gregory you are facing a unproven liability that would derail the entire position if he is not available as a full time starter. That is what I mean by rotation. You have to have insurance there.
