There are many, but they're not in the news because it doesn't sell headlines.

Gronk just took one.

At some point, the market gets too high, and then market value goes down. Honestly, you should prolly stop using that term, I'm not sure you know what it means.

Gronk came out of retirement and made 9 mill on a 1 year deal, for a 31 yo TE who was out of the game that is not taking a pay cut.

One day it may change in the NFL but with networks paying double they did before I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Fox was paying or 1 billion for their deal they are now looking at over 2 billion on this next NFL TV deal and the same for all others, ESPN, NBC, CBS. This money is not going directly to the owners NFLPA are assured to get their cut of the pie which will be higher caps in the near future with a down year this coming season yet not beyond it. As for NFL market value maybe you are the one who stops using the term since you evidently are not seeing these increases that are taking place yearly

It's not about this "reality" thingie you suddenly brought up, it's about what market value is, and how it can fluctuate.

Yeah you are clueless then to the reality that has been taking place for years not just recently. You don't like what QB get paid then you don't sign the QB to a FA contract you just move on to the next QB who knows maybe there is a 1-800 QB phone number out there.

As an outsider looking in, this looks exactly like what Kirk did in DC. Many of us knew the guy wanted out and wasn't going to agree to a deal, no matter what.. unless it was completely outrageous.
Looking at the Dak situation it appears to be much the same. If the guy really wanted to be there, he would get a deal done. He doesn't, so he's playing chicken with the FO.

Personally, I've always liked the guy as a player/hated him because of that disgusting star. With that being said, I'd be happy to have him come to DC on a fat deal. With this defense I think Dak would do pretty well if he doesn't have to have the whole thing on his shoulders.

Tell that to all the Dakolites in this group that want to say how Dak has over 40 wins in his first 5 seasons.

I'm a fan of Dak and I also know that wins are a team accomplishment as is losing. Does not change the fact that across the NFL the highest paid player is the QB

27-21 in Dak's last 48 games......so tell me how Dak is making this team so much better?

It’s a team game. Minus Dak we’d probably only have half as many wins. Question is what QB could we realistically get that would be better than Dak and help win is more games?

Yeah, I already directed the Team game thing earlier. As for your projection of winning only half as many games? Can you tell me the next lottery numbers? If not then clearly you can't tell the future as Dalton actually won a higher percentage of games in 2020 than Dak so there's that.

Simply put Dak is our best option. You have an opinion but no solution. Ok let’s not sign Dak then what? Draft one? Sign Trubisky? Go get Carr? Give up multiple first round picks for Watson or Russell and then sacrifice building your defense? I mean if you don’t want to pay Dak we have to get another QB. Who’s better for less money?

I know, and there's not a 1-800 qb number. There are very few Kurt Warners waiting to be signed. It is the most difficult position to find in all of professional sports.

Todd France is the tempest in the tea pot. Dak better decide what he wants.
Your right on there. France is asking for the moon and the Jones are staying firm. I will be shocked if Dak is signed to a long term deal to Jerry’s liking. Who caves?

I would say yes, call Las Vegas and via the assigning of the non-exclusive franchise tag and agreement with Dak offer the following deal:

To Oakland

QB Dak Prescott

To Dallas

QB Derek Carr
S Jonathan Abram
2021 1st Round Draft Pick (#17 overall)

Gruden is under a lot of pressure with his long contract to start winning so he pulls the trade deal. Dallas gets a quality QB for an affordable salary over the next 2 years along with a past 1st round safety to man the free safety position as well as an additional 1st round draft pick for 2021. Dallas then does an immediate defensive rebuild by selecting CB Caleb Farley with the #10 1st round pick and CB Jaycee Horn with the #17 1st round pick via the Raiders. Dallas instantly rebuilds their secondary with the starting CB trio of Diggs, Farley, and Horn with the safeties being Abram and Wilson.

That would certainly be a good deal for us but given the Raiders are already almost $19 million over the cap I don’t see how or why they’d make this trade. Especially given that Carr had his best season last year. But I do give you credit for coming up with a creative deal.

I think it’s more likely we end up with a Trubisky, Newton or Dalton at QB for a year if we move on from Dak. And in that case I could see us moving up to get a Lance or Fields but then again that would cost us precious draft picks needed to build the defense. However it plays out I just wants what’s best for the team in the long haul and Dak is a proven commodity and the QB position would be settled for years if we resign him. Just my two cents.

Clueless? Your conclusion is extremely shortsighted and rather dumb. Of course, you turned to cheap little personal insults, and that means you know you lost. There is absolutely no other reason to turn childish. Maybe you'll fair better next time. Do some reading, might help.

This isn't really a case of beginning negotiations. They've been talking for years now.
But what is different since last off season -
Mahomes negotiated his deal last July, and Watson inked a contract in September.
