Kiper: Kyle Pitts is my highest graded TE ever

Gallup and Lamb are both excellent on contested catches, Jarwin is a big body capable of going up and getting it, and Cooper is excellent in the RZ because of his ability to get open.

Pitts doesn't give Dallas anything they don't already have.

Pitts would be an upgrade at TE for us. But not so much that it would make me want to pass on a stud defensive player or an OT.

Well right. Of course he's better than Jarwin, but the way he is used at Fl is exactly what he'd need to be used for in the NFL to be worthy of that pick. Dallas already has guys who do the same thing.

Kyle Pitts will contribute more to putting up wins than any defensive player.
There are no stud blue chip defensive tackles or Linebackers in this draft. And the CBs we can get in the second round aren't that much of a dropoff in talent.
There is not a single defensive player I would take over Pitts.

Lol, fair enough.

I'm not even saying I don't want him, per se, or that I don't think he's a great prospect, but he just doesn't do much to change the offense.
I just a fan of those super athletic TE's. A WR in the body of TE is very hard for defense to match up with

He also said Leaf had superior leadership skills.
Don't recall that.

The footage I saw had him saying Manning was the better player with better fundamentals and leadership, while Leaf was a talented but more of a wild card, sling it type of QB

Yeah, it's in the article I posted. My point is just because Kiper, or anyone else, says anything positive or negative about a player pre-draft doesn't mean squat. And anyone who thinks it does is just a sheep. Unless of course they're an NFL scout who's spent his whole life evaluating players. Kiper is not that.

This would have to be a McCarthy standing on the table for his guy moment. Otherwise, the Jones boys will sell to everyone how they already have a dynamic TE in Jarwin....

Uh...no.
In fact, that 3rd hand information article even had Leaf lying and saying Kiper picked him ahead of Manning when there is actual video footage of the opposite.

As for Kiper, I can take him or leave him.
Just pointing out that he did NOT have Leaf ahead of Manning.

Maybe Pitts is, who knows. But I do know he also said Ryan Leaf was the best QB ever rated as well. :espn::espn:
Not true. On his national radio show this past Saturday he did his top rated QBs of all time. Number one was Ellway, number 2 was Maniing. Iirc Leaf made the top 20 and Mel admitted a swing and a miss. If Dari and Mel is podcast check last Saturday last segment.

Your Pitts is a bust stance will be proven incorrect.

Exactly. Why would we want a TE who can separate from DB’s? Gronk and Gates were/are such excellent blockers LMAO. They were both taken for what they could do - score TD’s. Jarwin’s shown promise but if Pitts is there in taking him UNLESS Farley is still there.

Some mocks have Sewell dropping to us - just wait for that s**t show on here. 90% of us here realize you take BPA and figure rest out later but there are others who’d rather take a lower-rated player just because he plays D. That’s what rounds 2-7 are for.

Yeah I'd have to dig out my old books but I'm pretty positive he had Manning at 1. I know this because I had Leaf over Manning.

Biggest miss I've ever made obviously but how the heck was I supposed to know how immature he was back then? It wasn't like the coverage we have today.

He’s right about Mac Jones coming out of nowhere like Burrow. Jones was one of the most accurate college QB’s I’ve seen in awhile.
Agreed. I kind of hope he's available at 44

Please define “same thing” because I’m positive none of the 42 TE’s on our roster can do the “same thing” as Pitts.

To effectively use Pitts you got to line him up all over the field to create mismatches. Problem is, who are you taking off the field: Cooper, Lamb, Gallup to do this?
