Jerry has shown time and again that he not only understands this he embraces it. Jerry actually enjoys the jousting aspect of the negotiation process. People citing that there will be "bad blood" simply have not been paying attention.
Yea, but it’s also true with other teams. The players all understand the negotiations is part of the process. It’s not personal, just business.

These type of shows need to have point and counterpoint fyi.

If everyone agreed with the obvious there would be no show.
The show is a reflection of what fans do all around the world - debate about players and teams in various sports.

Lavar argued against this own point...he went down how the WHOLE TEAM is a disappointment lol....Dak is winning despite a team and coaching staff full of disappointments.
Winning...what?
Our definitions must be off.

The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott reportedly haven t made any substantial progress toward a long-term contract extension ahead of the 2021 NFL season, and ...

These debates are so tiresome because they're so dumb. Dak is a lot of QB. On the other side of the pancake is that 40mil is a lot of cap. It would be nice to hear two rational guys *both* facing *both* sides of that tradeoff, instead of one shrieking "Franchise QB" and the other shrieking "Cap".

The LB guy seems to get the tradeoff more than most. He's the most reasonable guy.

The Narrative that they "coulda had Dak for $X before" is one of the annoying stupidities. Dak hadn't shown he was worth as much after 2018. He showed a lot more in 2019. And in *neither* season did I ever hear Dak say "I'll sign a contract for $X dollars." All this shoulda coulda ignores that Dak has declined all contracts and AFAIK never offered a signed contract of his own for Jerry to sign. He just kept on asking for more of he wanted from Jerry.

But the most important variable missing from the discussions is future of the cap. Will it go up? How much? You can't meaningfully judge the number for a Dak contract without first stipulating what the cap will be, or discussing Dak's salary in terms of cap%.

True or False?
with whom they all had different points but i might have to agree with Arrington..punt after this season or trade him now and get 2 firsts..reboot..rather have a qb at 40mil and still not get to sb?

3 years i ago i said sign dak last year i said sign dak but after he triuned down the 35 over 5 i am now not sure , thats the threshold i wouldn't cross if i were the GM..

How in the hell is Dak worth 24-25 million? That' less than Kirk Cousins, Jimmy G, Teddy Bridgewater, etc.
thats bit low but they are using the brady brees rivers recent deals etc other qbs like foles making less etc..

that is lowballing but over 35 is the threshold i dont cross..jerry right to draw the line in the sand at 35 and demand team friendly structures..

WRONG.

Dak has proven beyond a question of a doubt that he is a $32 - $35 million/year dollar QB.

No QB in the NFL is worth $40 mil / year.
Well that deserves validation.
I keep going back to the same point AC, and that point will remain can this roster be a contender and support any franchise QBs average salary.
Too many mistakes in build model has destroyed Daks chances, this teams chances.
Until Jerrys legacy, his heirs to the great thrown get it right, there will be no more Lombardi's, too many errors have been made and cant be immediately corrected.

Ummmm...Dak and his agent turned down a $35M per year 5-year contract at the start of the 2019 season after Dak played well against 3 crappy teams.
And how much was Dak making when HE defeated playoff teams such as Pittsburgh/Green Bay which incidentally were both at their own house?!

I don't understand the thought that Dallas screwed up not signing him earlier? If they signed him 2 years earlier, he would then need to be signed again 2-3 years from now for a substantially larger contract. I guess the variable is how much does the cap go up proportionate to the QB salaries?

I get that they spread the cap hit along with rookie contract But few outsidenof Arrington are talking about the injury and how it impacts the contract.

I don't think Dallas will get two firsts. Why would a team invest multiple premium picks and a ton of money if they haven't seen him play post injury? Other teams will also know if Dallas is shopping Dak they have to move him.

Finally some talking head making valid points against signing Dak. The sad thing it is an ex Commander making the point. Those baffoons on ESPN would have people thinking Dak is the next messiah. The Cowboys made a fair offer. Dak needs to sign it or trade his behind.

-------Dak is winning despite a team and coaching staff full of disappointments.

Really? Winning? Isn't he something like 7-13 over his last 20 games or so....and the high majority of those wins were against sub .500 teams.

Well said well said!
When Dak elbowed Romo aside I was Dak's biggest fan. Since then, the lad has given his all but, unfortunately, it has not worked out.

And, yes, mateys, his remaining fans have plenty of excuses: poor coaching, poor fellow players, bad calls, injury, etc. Still, his record as leader of this team screams ALMOST AVERAGE!

And he wants $40 mil? Based on what? His handsomeness? His good citizenship? (He IS a good lad). His one playoff victory as QB?

So is Dak greedy? Does Dak see himself as a Rogers, Mahomes, Brady or Brees? The reality is that he's purely a bus driver in the mold of Dalton. Dak hands off the ball and throws dinky 7-yard passes to the sidelines.
Reality is a mother.

Blimey. The things I write ...
