I disagree. If you give up this year's first and Dak's rights for Wilson, you still have free agency and the rest of the draft picks to invest in shoring up your defense. Conversely, you have arguably the most dominant offense in the entire league.
well, not so much.....high draft picks are premium, specially the 10th pick of the draft....so Wilson has a 35M price tag (average), so if Dak's number is 40M, that 5M ain't going to get you much....that's not going to be the difference between building a defense and not building a defense......that top 1st round pick. that 10th pick can get you a Surtain, Farley, Parsons type of player for the next 5 years......

and offense perhaps can get you to the playoffs. but you need defense to win.... ala tampa vs. KC......and like I mentioned Wilson is 1-3 in the playoffs without that vaunted defense..... getting to playoffs would only be a moral victory, not what we need. I am sure you will say there is 9 other picks in the draft we can use to shore up the defense, but its not a top 10 pick and getting an impact defensive player that we so badly need.....not sure how much better can the offense get, but it won't equate to championship type team. and Russell's contract runs out in 2023....and he will probably want north of 45-50M for his next contract.....

Yep same as Dak unless defense gets fixed as well
Wilson is worth the contract Dak wants though. If we're going to spend it on a QB I'd rather know I'm getting my moneys worth.

Also, in my opinion, I don't believe Wilson starts 1-3 like Dak this year. Wilson would not have allowed teams to go up 3 or 4 possessions on us without answering back with the weapons we have on offense.

3-team trade:
Seahawks send Wilson to New Orleans, New Orleans sends their 2021 1st & 3rd, & Seahawks send their 2021 2nd, & a 3rd round 2022 all to Dallas, & then Dak in a sign/trade is shipped off to Seattle.

Seahawks get Dak, New Orleans gets Wilson, Dallas gets draft capital (extra 1st, 2nd, and 3rd pick in the 2021 draft, and a 3rd round pick in 2022).

I agree with some of your points but I have a hard time judging Dak the beginning of last year. We were horrible in the first half and fell behind early. Then Dak would go nuts against soft D set ups with some nice comebacks. As I’ve repeated many times I like Dak and have stayed neutral. I’m just not sure how to judge those games.
I think that's pretty fair - it's not like he was going to throw for 7,000 yards or whatever lol. But at the same time, the OL was a mess from day 1.

The best mark of what the offense should be, I think, is the fist half of the Cleveland game.

Wilson can do more with less talent than Dak can do with superior talent.
Seattle typically has a much better defense than the Cowboys and that's carried them a long way but Wilson effectively runs that offense very well.
So in other words, you can't actually tell me the difference between them as players. Got it.

Do you think Dak could do what Wilson was doing in Seattle?

There are levels here and Wilson is on another one compared to Dak.

Yes, our defense would still be trash, but Wilson may not allow us to go down by 3 TDs while going 3 and out early in games, making the opponents defense play soft and forcing us to pass 95% percent of the rest of the game to even have a chance. Dak put up crazy numbers, but he wouldn't have put those up if he would've been able to do things early in games as opposed to late when the defense starts playing softer because they were able to score points while we went 3 and out over and over to start games.
What has Wilson actually done in Seattle? If Dallas has their SB defense, sure, Dak can do the same things.

That bottom paragraph is entirely irrelevant, because Pete Carroll's whole thing is to run the ball specifically for that reason. And they were down by 3 scores early in the playoffs against the Packers in 2019. They also got murdered by the Bills. So it's irrelevant and wrong, the more I think about it.

Dallas needs to get Dak done ASAP or tell the Seahawks we want your guy.

If Stephen can’t get Dak done and not trade for one of the other superstar QBs who would love to have this talent, that will be the end of this franchise as America’s Team or ever being taken seriously by players/agents.

Imagine the Saints going from Brees to Wilson.

Do it, Jerry.

Somehow sign and trade Dak and add whatever draft picks are needed to get this done.

Could you imagine what Wilson would look like with all these weapons around him?
Russell gets to choose where he goes and Dallas was not on that list.

I suspect his wife has a say as well.

Clearly we disagree. While I would like to have this years 1st rounder, it’s not mandatory to fixing the defense. In my opinion, sound coaching will do more than any single player.

And as much as I like Dak, Wilson is better, especially if he comes with a lower salary cost for the next few years.

Few if any teams have a higher profile than the Cowboys.

Although Wilson is a better quarterback overall at this point, that doesn't invalidate your point. It shows that winning Super Bowls is not easy no matter who you have at quarterback. The conditions have to be right.

We haven't had the right conditions here since the 1990s. Yet, there are many who want to blame the quarterback.

I like Dak, but if there is a way to pull off a deal for Wilson I'd be over the moon.

I just don't see it though

Agree. I feel like with the Oline, the horrible D etc that we would start games sloppy, with some turnovers and then settle in later. I just haven’t wrapped my head around if that’s the upside of Dak or based on circumstances. He did keep the the pedal to the metal though which is one of the things I love about Dak.

Wilson, would be more dramatic on his delivery to the receivers. Dak, relies on, and plays to systematic. The elite QB, knows the system, but can tweak it to their favor. Dak, for some odd reason, stays within the confine of the offensive gameplan. This is only my opinion, and it is based on watching them both play. The field belongs to Wilson. Dak, seems to play within the markers.

Honestly in a straight up trade it would probably take Dak and 2 1s just because of the cap situation. Wilson is probably as good or slightly better than Dak, depending on which Wilson you get, but Wilson's salary the next 3 years is 19m,19m,22m with large cap hits that Seattle would have to eat in order to trade him. Combine that with needing to sign Dak to a big contract and you would absolutely have to throw in multiple 1s in order to get the deal done, but the same is true for any team that would be trading for Wilson.
