Dez would tell you str8 up that he was never a route running WR, he was a lot like Irvin, and relied on his physical ability to out muscle at the point of action,, when the ball was within grasp.
Irvin made the art of just putting himself in front of DBs on a routine basis, Irvin wrote and published that art.
Dez never lived up to Irvin status, and Irvins tenure, but Dez had all the ability to do so.
and yet with romo he was an elite WR 3 straight years, put up astronomical numbers like nobody's business and owns the WR TD record you dont get 12+ tds 3 straight years just doing one trick...sorry he was more then 50 50 guy, maybe his route running wasnt AC Like but dude had more then one trick and ROMO was the only QB who knew how to actually throw a WR open , anticipate a wr coming open and or throw accurate enough for a WR like dez

dak and LJ are not those guys.they are see open throw ball guys..rare do they throw ball on time..heck Daltons far better at it than Dak, we saw that this past year..

people bragging on the 20mil wr in AC when he breaks 1k yet has low td numbers meh so what he is better at running routes , let me know when our 3 headed monsters can put up 3 straight years like Dez/..dude was beast who could also return punt..AC needs to score more to be 20mil WR IMO

lest not discount Dez career i believe he cracked our top 5 in receptions and yardage and had a great YPC avg as well in his allegedly overrated career as a DC..that horse hockey. Top 5 in all things DC and #1 in TDS :hammer: srt 1960-2021 and dez somehow made top 5 with little skills and the most important stat in sports is scoring and hes #1..hard to do check out the WR lists the DC had run through here and dez stood out..Like Romo dudes get a lack or respect from a lot of fans for whatever reason..

He is most likely done. Didn't have any impact on the Ravens and as been mentioned really struggles creating space. Add to the fact, that there are tons of WR entering the NFL every year, it is probably much more likely that Baltimore was his last chance to show he had a lot left.

The ending of playing careers in the NFL is typically ugly or very quiet. One day you are an NFL player, and the next you are pushed aside.

good luck with that...your time has come and gone.....you are in super desparate mode now....if he takes vet min, he can be the 5th WR for some team somewhere
I wouldn't be surprised if that team was Dallas if we do trade Gallup.

Bryant will sell way more in jerseys for whatever team he is on than he will be paid.

I doubt if we go back to Dez....we could have last year and the year before and passed...... I am not sure how tradable is Gallup. don't get me wrong. he is good, but meaning what we can get in return for a player in the last year of his contract and probably demanding a big contract......so teams may not part with 1st, 2nd or even a 3rd round pick......and then pay a lot where they can get a player in draft much cheaper (although not as productive perhaps).....so he maybe worth more to us to keep and tag next year....not sure if he is eligible for a qualifying offer or is that off the table because of the rules.

Gallup has 2 years left on his deal. He's a proven #2 WR at minimum and has #1 upside..

I think we can easily get a first for Gallup. I'm just not sure I would accept a first. Would want more, but I'm very high on Gallup. I think he has a higher ceiling than Cooper or Lamb.

Dez did impress with the few opportunities he had last season. I wouldn't mind bringing him back. It is clear his heart never left Dallas. He still wants to be here.

love dez but he should not be trying to be picky and be say he does not want to play for a team.

he will get a camp invite form some one just for a little publicity but he wont make any roster.

OH, I thought he was in the last year of his contract. if he has 2 years left, then he becomes a very tradable commodity.. if we can snag a 2nd (high to mid) and maybe a 5th, then I would be very OK with trading him. in that case, actually I wouldn't bulk at us drafting Pitts in the 1st, and subsequently getting defense with that extra 2nd. I know I will get grilled for this, but it would be a win win for us.

now, as you said, if we can get a low first rounder. then that much better.......

We paid a first for Cooper, who at the time had concerns about his motivation. We traded a first and a third for Roy Williams, who had produced way less than Gallup has so far in his career.

Gallup is one of the hardest working players we have. Dude is pushing himself non-stop. There is no reason to believe we couldn't get at least what we paid for Cooper - and frankly, I think we can get more. Gallup has no character concerns, has improved immensely and seems like a true #1 WR without character issues.

Gallup as a proven commodity in the NFL trumps the randomness of the draft in my opinion.

I'd rather trade Gallup to TB for Vita Vea, or another stud defensive player that has proven production in the NFL.

I hope so.....cooper was considered a top 10 WR......and we got into a bidding war with Eagles....this year there are 3,4 top notch WRs coming out, so unless a team lower in the round feels they are a WR away from being a good offense, then perhaps they may bite.....but they may first try to get one of the WRs in draft.....the teams that I think may consider a WR in lower part of the draft would be Indy, Titans, Ravens....thats why I thought perhaps top of the 2nd, for one of those teams that may have passed on one of the WRs in this draft and they can give up a 2nd to get the WR they want/need. but again, that would mean additional mid round picks. perhaps 2 2nds, which wouldn't be bad.

2 2nds wouldn't be bad but even at that price, I think I'd rather keep Gallup. As I stated earlier, I believe he has a higher ceiling than Cooper or Lamb. Something about the way every single time we need a clutch play, it's Gallup making it.

Blimey Covington Loo. That mental midget is either saving face or is delusional.
At 32 he needs to retire. Nobody will miss that ego conflated clown.
You calling someone a mental midget is the epitome of pot-kettle.

someone in trouble at the position might. last hope.
With the abundance of talented wideouts coming out every year at both FBS and FCS levels - it will be hard for Bryant to make a 2021 roster - even at a vet minimum contract.

That's a little harsh. I know skills fade but, he can make a roster. His Home life and raising as a child kept him from being a super star. Attitude and culture has to be absorbed. He had extreme passion but didnt know how to express it in the right way. It got to the point it was a distraction. Michael Irvin had it in spades!

So Dez was great with an elite Romo, but not so great when other QBs were throwing the ball. Cooper has never had Romo throwing him the ball, so why judge him differently? Amari is playing under the same constraints as Dez did his final years in Dallas as far as QB. Cooper averages 9.3 yards per target in Dallas. Dez averaged 8.2 ypt in his Dallas career. Cooper may not be worth his contract, but I'm not sure why that matters with respect to Bryant. Dez didn't live up the contract he signed. He was great in that 3 year span, but dropped off significantly. It was the right time for Dallas to move on from Dez and his contract and the past few years have proven it was the correct decision. Obtaining Cooper is a separate matter altogether and didn't have an impact on what they did with Dez.I appreciate what Bryant brought to the Cowboys, but that is already history.
